Jeans Claim to Fight Cellulite? Hope You Like Them Dirty

by Jennifer Welsing

Shopping for jeans is hard. The choices are endless; cut, color, rise, what fits your style, what fits your body type. And now Wrangler is adding to mix by preying on the ultimate of  issues: cellulite. Yes, the fashion icon loved by cowboys has developed three new jean options, two are made to help moisturize your skin and the other to help fight cellulite. Each option will come in varying styles. Now, you’re probably thinking, this is great! All I need to do is wear some jeans and my legs will look great. But there’s more to Wrangler’s Spa Denim than that. The moisturizing jeans are just that, made to help moisturize your skin. The Aloe Vera is made for sensitive skin and the Olive Extract is for everyone else.

The one everyone is probably most curious about is the cellulite fighting jeans. They are “infused with algae extracts, retinal and caffeine”. To get the desired results, the jeans are then worn for “eight hours a day, five days a week for six weeks”, according to the study cases done by Institut Adriant in France. So, yeah, you have to wear the same pair of jeans for a month before you see any improvement. Also, you can’t wash them during this time or all that good stuff with wash away (but a refreshing spray is available). Not to mention that cellulite is normal and there is no way to completely get rid of it. One doctor, when asked if this is a possible solution, didn’t think this kind of treatment would work through jeans. Another doctor believed it could just come from wearing tight jeans. Dr. Jeffery Benabio, stated “Any squeezing of cellulite as from tight clothing, wraps, deep massage all can temporarily improve the appearance of cellulite”. Key word there, temporarily. And then there is the price tag; retail is $136.

With all the jean choices out there, Wrangler is now going to try to sell us some magic jeans. Whether you believe they work is up to you but remember that by the time you see results you will have been wearing the same unwashed jeans, every day, for over a month.
