Harvard Says This 23-Year-Old Woman Is The Next Einstein

by Laura McMahon

Albert Einstein has a new rival — and she is already one of the most well-known and accomplished physicists in the United States.

Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski, wonder-physicist and all-round phenomenon, has been named by Harvard as the next Einstein. While other teens were playing video games, Sabrina, at 14 years old, was laying the final touches on a single-engine aircraft she had built from scratch in her father’s garage.

According to Forbes, at just 23 years old, she is the first woman to graduate at the top her undergraduate program in MIT in 20 years and is now a candidate for a physics Ph.D. at Harvard. The first-generation Cuban-American does not own a smartphone and does not use social media such as Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. She does, however, regularly update PhysicsGirl, her own personal website with a list of her experiences and achievements.

Pasterski’s work concentrates on quantum gravity and aims to explain gravity within the context of quantum mechanics. Her work in the area of physics has led to widespread acclaim, including from Stephen Hawking, and to job offers from NASA, Blue Origin and chief executive officer at Amazon; Jeff Bezos.
