Everything Is Terrible

by Molly Simms

There are many reasons I’m thankful that the Internet was invented. Without it, how would I get beer and cookies delivered to me without leaving the house or speaking to a human being? How would I read celebrity gossip without having to pay actual monies to a garbage tabloid magazine? And most importantly, without the Interwebs, how would I watch the brilliant and mortifying video gems unearthed by Everything Is Terrible?

The very good people of Everything Is Terrible take old VHS tapes (everything from forgotten Christian rap jams of the early ’90s to a weirdly erotic Angela Lansbury inspirational video), and remix them, editing them down to the most uncomfortably bizarre moments and then posting them on the World Wide Webternet for all to see. Their 7:30-minute montage of people in films being thrown through, or voluntarily busting through, windows is a visual symphony. In short, they’re doing God’s work.

Now Everything Is Terrible is taking their show on the road to promote their new feature-length masterpiece, Doggie Woggiez! Poochie Woochiez!, a collection of the most insane dog-related moments in pop-culture history. This is not an event to be missed, so if you have a taste for the odd (and the ability to tolerate hideous overacting), you owe it to yourself to look at the Everything Is Terrible tour schedule, and get tickets for the show closest to your neck of the woods. As long as EIT keeps making videos, everything is decidedly un-terrible.
