Drawing Under the Influence: New Comic from Julia Wertz

by emily dirienzo

Folks in N.Y.C, San Francisco or Baltimore better run for cover ‘cos Julia Wertz is gonna rip a big one! This September comic artist Julia Wertz, creator of the charmingly awkward comic The Fart Party and editor of I Saw You…, is set to release yet another collection of angst-wrought, potty-mouthed, visual vignettes for our viewing pleasure.

September 3rd Wertz gets drunk in public with Drinking at the Movies a hilarious full-length graphic memoir about the artist’s transition from a life on the West Coast to the friendless streets of New York City.

In DATM, bad jobs and bad break-ups are chased with booze and wise cracks giving off an oh-too-familiar vibe that confronts the vices of  Jane Everywoman while simultaneously allowing us to see through her unique perspective.

The Fart…err…release party begins with a reading/viewing at Brooklyn’s Desert Island followed by a mini tour with a few pit stops in Baltimore, Bethesda and back to Brooklyn, before heading to Wertz’s old stomping grounds, San Fran.
