Beyonce and Nicki Remix of ‘Flawless’ Exceeds All Expectations

by Gwen Berumen

I was binge watching some of my fave shows on Saturday night/Sunday morning when I checked Twitter and noticed my feed EXPLODING. I scroll down only to find out that the very anticipated, much rumored collab between Beyonce and Nicki Minaj had arrived earlier than expected.

With Nicki’s push-back for Anaconda, we all expected it to come on Monday, but you know Bey, in that you don’t actually know her. She doesn’t care about our sleep schedule, she’s all in for these surprise drops.

The Flawless Remix that was born of the power-duo was nothing short of excellent. Perhaps most poignant, is the fact that Bey finally addresses the infamous elevator incident. With lyrics such as: “Ofcourse some sh*t goes down when it’s a billion dollars on an elevator.” She continues with lyrics that inspire us all, “And you can say what you want, i’m the sh*t. I want everyone to feel like this.” Aww, how sweet!

Nicki takes over the latter half of the track with verses like “We A-listers, we paid sisters.” These ladies know that they are at the top and I honestly couldn’t be more proud of them. And while no Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie this time around, Bey and Nicki reclaim their identities in a way that is entirely feminist.
