ATP NY 2010 Festival Line-Ups Expanded!

by Nissa

When a festival is named after a Velvet Underground song (All Tomorrow’s Parties) you know it is going to be legit. Looking at the line up of bands and talent, my mind is sort of blown by how diverse and real the organizers kept it. From smaller punk bands big in their own scene like Toronto band Fucked Up, to the sweet, melodic voices of Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions, ATP is super well read-and well rounded.

And not to get off topic, but speaking of Hope Sandoval, did you know her song “Suzanne” was actually written by Leonard Cohen, and is about the very same girl that Cohen sang about forty years ago in his song (also called “Suzanne” but different?) Talk about unrequited love.

Headlining this fest are The, infamous, Stooges and Iggy Pop as well as Sonic Youth (remember that feud in Juno?) The Stooges will only be playing from their 1973 album Raw Power- but, hey, that’s a good thing.

Another band I am super stoked to see here in the States is Dungen, a slow-jammy band from Sweden made popular by their hit “Panda” but my personal favorite is “Natten Bllr Dag” – oh, and I have no idea what that means.

Comedy is going down on Friday, and the whole weekend is sewn with an awesome line up of artists including Vivian Girls, The Breeders, Fuck Buttons, Sleep and Mudhoney.

And let’s hope Explosions in the Sky are playing at nighttime cause there isn’t a better place to see stars than upstate NY or better music to listen to while just laying down.

So, loves, if you have labor day weekend off you should head up (or down?) to this fest. which is taking place in upstate New York at Kutshers. Campsites are available for really cheap, and shuttle services are available from NY and Philly and from select hotels listed on the website. You can buy tickets for individual days or for the entire weekend. An awesome lists of vendors are included, as well as random acts of awesom-ness such as paintings, card games and you know, whatever else goes on at festivals.
