Rehana Kausar and Sobia Kamar astounded many conservatives in their home country of Pakistan when they recently married in a civil partnership in the UK. Kausar and Kamar are the first lesbian Muslims to wed, as LGBT groups are scorned (or at least ignored if they're quiet enough) in custom and law in Pakistan. The ladies immediately applied for political asylum, as they'd received death threats from opponents of their decision in both the UK and Pakistan. Read More
On Monday the Obama administration announced that the morning-after pill will now be sold to girls of all ages, without requiring a prescription. We were already rejoicing just a month ago over the increased access to young ladies, but now no one is excluded. This means that Plan B can be purchased over-the-counter by ladies younger than 17. This is reversal of the federal government's previous decision in late 2011 to restrict minors from obtaining the pill so easily. The Department of Justice reported this change to U.S. Read More
The "Modern Madam" experience at 28on27 puts a new spin on boudoir photography for ladies seeking sexy, classy keepsakes of themselves. Although most clients sport lingerie in the traditional style of boudoir shoots, photographer Laura Little keeps the whole project open to interpretation. The women can wear whatever they like, as motivations range from gifts for fiancées and spouses to simply pride in the beauty of their bodies. Even a 62-year-old has gotten in on the action, rocking a Kimono and a flower in photos for her 28th anniversary. Read More
It's been awhile since we've heard any new music from the feminist punk legend (half a year to be exact), but it was well worth the wait. "Oh Come On" is a high-energy, fuzzed out punk song that showcases the Bikini Kill members' talents that we've come to love so deeply. (Kathi Wilcox of BK is slappin' da bass, while drummer Carmine Covelli, guitarist Sara Landeau, and keyboardist Kenny Mellman cover the rest of the bases in the Julie Ruin. Read More
Party hard while contributing to a great cause by coming out for the 9th Annual "Summer, Sex and Spirits" Benefit! There's going to be an open bar all night long, with talented DJ duo AndrewAndrew (who you might remember from their cameo on Girls?) spinning hits to go along with them dranks. Read More
Detroit rapper Angel Haze first caught our eye when she dropped the heavy, deeply personal "Cleanin' Out My Closet" last year. Haze's detailed account of her repeated sexual abuse was compelling to say the least, and made the lyricist a household name in the rap world. She's been spinning out mixtapes like it's NBD, plus an EP in 2012, and now we're anxiously awaiting Dirty Gold, her upcoming studio album. To quench our Haze-y thirst, she's given us "No Bueno," which is anything but what its title indicates. Read More
Ew, ew, ew. Wikifeet is a disgusting (to me) website dedicated to compiling photos and videos of female celebrities' feet, AKA "the collaborative celebrity feet website." I'm getting douche chills just thinking about it. If you become a member of the site, you can upload your own pictures and clips for everyone to, uh, enjoy. Users can rate each celebrity's feet using a star system, which results in a rating of either "gorgeous," "beautiful," "nice," "ok," "bad," or "ugly" feet. Visitors of the site leave extremely gross comments about what they want to do to each woman's feet. Read More
We couldn't resist. There are just too darn many adorbs critters out there getting all squeaky clean in the cutest way possible. I mean, if you saw this little guy refusing to leave his bath, you know that sometimes our furry friends really do have an appreciation for hygiene. Some like lathering up, some like the shower head, and some even like the blow dryer, if you can believe it! Others just chill out and float around in the water. We've got all kinds of lovable creatures from sloths to monkeys to hedgehogs. Enjoy your Tuesday! 10.  9. 8. Read More
Despite her passion for swimming, it was never Nadya Vessey's dream to be a mermaid. She started swimming after losing her first leg when she was seven, and continued to swim competitively after the second was amputated at the age of sixteen. Vessey picked herself back up on two prosthetic legs and, unlike many Disney fans, didn't give in to any mermaid fantasies. She's used these legs for decades, until now that she's received some assistance from Peter Jackson's Weta Workshop. Read More
My Milk Toof is a series of stories inspired by baby teeth. I'd never heard of the term before, but artist Inhae Renee Lee is fascinated by "milk teeth," AKA your primary teeth. She created two itty-bitty BFF tooth characters, ickle and Lardee (intentional uncapitalization), who go on adventures in their home, sometimes with their pet fish, Carrot. ickle, the smart studious "toof," and Lardee, the plump, fun-loving "toof," are made of polymer clay and painted with acrylics.
