Guitarist, songwriter, and singer Kate Eldridge is probably one of the hardest working musicians in the punk scene right now. Big Eyes started in Brooklyn, NY (although they’ve relocated to Seattle, WA), and has been releasing LPs, EPs, split 7 inches, and touring left and right since 2009. Birth Story is a compelling documentary that tells the story of Ina May Gaskin and her husband Stephen, who began a flourishing farming commune in Tennessee in the 1970s. “The Farm” began when Stephen, a spiritual leader and orator, was asked to go on a speaking tour around the U.S. The couple’s friends and fans of Stephen’s speeches asked to join them on the tour. Ina began teaching herself how to deliver on the tour when the pregnant women riding with them went into labor. Read More
The iconic artist’s clothing has been locked away for almost 60 years, first under the guard of Kahlo’s husband Diego Rivera and later of close friend Dolores Olmedo. After Olmedo passed away in 2004, the Mexican painter’s wardrobe was finally released for the first time in decades. Frida Kahlo is widely known for her striking self-portraits and the influence of her Mexican heritage in her paintings. Her wardrobe also demonstrates her appreciation of Mexican culture, as the exhibit holds many of her long skirts and corsetry. Read More

As the Steubenville, Ohio rape trial draws nigh, the Internet has been abuzz with discussion of the two high school football players’ actions and the authorities’ reaction to the case. Protests and rallies have formed due to the city’s negligent conduct.  As a result, the police department and city of Steubenville have launched “Steubenville Facts” in an attempt to “disseminate the most accurate information about a recent case involving sexual assault charges pending against two juveniles in Steubenville.
