SNL Returns with Amy Poehler and Katy Perry; But Will There Be Gummi Bears Involved?

Saturday Night Live is one of those cultural phenomena that refuse to disappear. We will all be dead and gone before SNL goes off air. This fall marks the show’s 36th running year and the entire cast (minus Will Forte) will be returning on September 25 to kick-off the season with three consecutive shows. Hosting the premiere will be none other than funny gal, Amy Poehler. A recent alum, Amy left the show after eight years to pursue bigger and better things – like babies. And Parks and Recreations.

Also debuting on SNL will be special musical guest Katy Perry. The summer is over but Katy Perry is still preaching the word of the “California Gurls.” Who else is banking on a soon-to-be-classic spoof of the Candy Land-inspired music video?

Four new cast members have already signed on to join the ranks for the upcoming season. Taran Killam, an established comedian from L.A.; Paul Brittain and Vanessa Bayer, both Chicago sketch comedians; and Jay Pharoah, hailing from Virginia, will (hopefully) take over Fred Armisen’s awful Obama impressions.

September 25 will be just the beginning of an entire season of laugh-out-loud moments from the relentless kings and queens of comedy at SNL. Get ready to start planning your Saturday nights around television again.
