Phoenix Rising: Band Reveals New Track From Upcoming Album

It’s been nearly four years since Phoenix released their award-winning album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. This April will bring the release of their follow-up LP, Bankrupt! from Glassnote Records. They have been posting tantalizing teasers on their website, but yesterday they finally revealed a video for their debut track “Entertainment.” Check it out below.

It’s eighties influence is definitely showing: think Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Hong Kong Garden,” with a modern Versaille twist. Thomas Mars’ characteristic vocals lead the musical romp through layers of synth, and danceable moments punctuate the track. However, “Entertainment” seems to straddle the line between pop and more experimental rock, proving that they’re still committed to pushing commercial music in an intelligent direction.  It’s clear that they’ve put a lot of thought in to the upcoming album, and we can’t wait to hear it!

Bankrupt! will be released the week of April 22nd, but you can preorder it on the band’s website. In March Phoenix will also be touring North America, and performing at this year’s Coachella Festival.
