Here are just a few fashionable New Yorkers that I've come across in the past few weeks, including one fabulous former Project Runway contestant! The above photo of Vintage Vandelizm blogger, Jasmin Rodriguez, is one of my very favorite looks. From head to toe, this girl is committed to glamour in a way I really appreciate and admire. She works with a friend of mine at the awesome Billy's Antiques on Houston street in NYC. Below is the wonderful designer Austin Scarlett of Project Runway Season 1. Read More

If you live in NYC and are not familiar with the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck that drives around Manhattan, then listen close for I'm about to tell you of what is probably my favorite dessert truck in the world. Sure, the name is cute and  ice cream trucks are inarguably awesome, but no joke, the ice cream from the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck is seriously amazing. Read More
Most blog-reading folks know The Satorialist, the now-famous street style blog by Scott Schuman, but do you know The Satorialtwist? This clever blog splices pictures from The Satorialist to create some interesting, hilarious, and even cute outfits (such as the one above). I'm not sure how Schuman feels about the blog, but I like to think he'd be flattered considering the disclaimer Harry Woodrow, The Satorialtwist's creater,  posts on the site, which says, "All images are from The Sartorialist and used without permission but with love and respect. Our favorite "doen't give a fashion fuck" actress, Helena Bonham Carter is Marc Jacobs' latest muse and model for his Fall 2011 collection. Some of these photos are not exactly the most conventionally attractive, but that's exactly what makes them amazing. Right now the fashion world is oohing and ahhing over Elle Fanning's MJ campaign, but these photos are the real gems. A true style icon is someone who beats to the tune of her own drum. No one encompasses that more than this lovely lady. Read More
Last Tuesday, July 12, at St. Mark's Bookshop, I had the distinct honor of listening to a panel of three super rad and super interesting ladies talk about their experience when it comes to being a woman working in media, their role in showcasing women through media, and how they view the overall consumption and creation of mainstream and indie media. Speakers included: Mindy Abovitz (Tom Tom Magazine, Editor), Emily Rems (BUST magazine, Editor), and Shirley Braha (MTV, Producer). I can't decide if this Steve Buscemi dress  by Black Milk is ridiculous or awesome..or ridiculously awesome. I happen to think Steve Buscemi is amazing. He's hilarious in a weird sort of way and I kind of find him secretly attractive in GhostWorld (..Right?!..No? Am I alone here?), but do I want to wear his face on my boobs? I don't know about that..  Buy one here if you dare and happen to have an extra $100 lying around. And just for kicks, here's the hilariously creepy tumblr, Chicks With Steve Buscemeyes, that's gotten quite popular lately. Read More
Recently featured on The Ones 2 Watch, check out some cosmic inspired work by one of my favorite up and coming photographers, Ignacio Torres. His most recent project, Stellar, uses a similar gif format to blogger Jamie Beck's lovely cinemagraphs, but while her photos create a more realistic movement and tone, Torres’ work evokes a different kind of magically whimsical quality that instantly catches your eye.   He explains Stellar by stating on his website that, “The project began from the theory that humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a stars death. Somehow Ben Milne, a baker in Scotland, found a way to create a  delicious, edible 7 inch of his friends' band, Found, made entirely of chocolate and edible paper. After experimenting with chocolate on vinyl and homemade templates, Milne contacted the band's record label, who gave him a vinyl press of his own to create this musical sweetness. Apparently it plays on all record players, which is pretty neat, but I'm not sure how many times I'd be able to play it before eating it!  To check out the video, click here. The Pains' video for their newest single, "The Body" off their album Belong is probably my favorite of theirs so far. They've had super 8 film adorableness in "Everything With You," plushie parties in "Higher Than the Stars," and 90's record store madness in "Heart In Your Heartbreak," but this video for "The Body" hits a more nostalgic chord. I love the way it catches that mix of happy sadness and longing that nostalgia for a simpler time brings. Read More
