I hate the cliché that time flies as you get older, but, oh, man, I’ve really started to feel its validity as of late. I swear it was Memorial Day 10 seconds ago, but, alas, summer is coming to a close. Just yesterday I noticed the sun starting to set around 6, which is crazy because I’m petty sure that in July it didn’t set until 10 p.m. (Alright, that might be slight hyperbole. But only slight.). To be completely honest, I’m pretty bummed about summer ending. Read More
How apt that this blog-slash-zine is titled “Got a Girl Crush,” since we certainly have a crush on it. Got a Girl Crush began in 2009 as the brainchild of friends Meg and Andrea, who we got to talk to about the project. In 2011, the first print issue of Got a Girl Crush dropped, and it was chock full of photos, interviews, and inspiration from ladies “doing amazing things in [their] own backyards.” The idea of Got a Girl Crush is to showcase empowered women who do cool things on the daily. When we were four, a “hard” question went something along the lines of, “Do you want the crusts to stay on, or do you want them cut off?” When Chelsea Clinton was four, the questions she faced were more of the “Do you want to grow up and run for senate one day?” variety. It’s no wonder she began answering these questions with a plain and simple “no” quite early on. Read More
The year 2012 brought us many pop culture trends, but perhaps none quite as big as The Hunger Games. The francise inspired everything from cultural criticism to DIY hair tutorial videos. Oh, and it gave us Katniss Everdeen, one of our top 10 fearless female film archers (say that ten times fast). Seriously, the fact that we'll never able to hang out with Katniss (you know, because she's, uh, not real) sorta breaks our heart. Yes, it’s safe to say we’re very pro-Hunger Games here at BUST, which is why we’re so excited about this giveaway. Read More
