This Sat I got to go to see Keisha Cole and Eve at the Rock Corps concert. I felt kind of dirty being there since everyone else had to volunteer 4 hours of community service to get a ticket. But whatever I needed to see Keisha Cole! No tickets were sold, the only way to get in was to work it out (unless you got the press hook up!). I am sure it was worth all the hours of fence painting and weed pulling because the show was a radio rap explosion, and I have a soft spot in my heart for catchy radio rap songs. When I walked into Radio City music hall Hurricane Chris was rocking “Hey Bay Bay”, now that's a jump off. Nick Cannon was the host and he was actually kind of funny. Expecially when he was trying to get kids to teach him what the hot new dance was in New York. He had the crowd get wild on some Lil Mama “No Music” and the tiniest crumper got on the stage, tossed her hat on the ground and got loose. Apparently, last year they taught him the Aunt Jackie. I love how the kids are really into rap line dancing right now. Remember when the Chicken Noodle Soup was the hottest? I can’t believe I let the Aunt Jackie pass by me. Right before the concert my friend Ian and I were totally focused on learning how to do Soulja Boy's “Crank Dat Spiderman”.
Biz Markie was the guest DJ and when he dropped Soulja Boy almost the entire crowd new the steps. Since it was a Boost Mobile event people were encouraged to take pics and shoot video. I tried to get video of a pack of 30 kids doing the Superman move together but it was way to dark.
The line up was insane: Young Joc, Fabolous, Kiesha Cole, Busta Rhymes, and Ludacris, plus two rock groups I have never heard of: Angels and Airwaves and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. The kids were apparently feeling them though. There were also tons of special guests. Swizz Beats, Marlie Marle, and Jus Blaze came on for a tribute to producers. Eve and Jada Kiss did “Tambourine” and “She Ain’t Got No Money In The Bank”. I have had a loop of those two songs and Kiesha’s “Let it Go
” circling in my head continuiously since the show. Kiesha totally tore that up. Oh, and the Hot 97 dancers were there, I didn’t even know they had dancers. They blew it up. I really wish I had video of that. Of course the total killer was Ludacris. Oh, and I should mention the gold chains. Fabolous put his chain on some young girl from the crowd and it was so big on her you could hardly see her torso. Biggest chain award of the night goes to Busta Rhymes oldest son. It was basically a gold jump rope around his neck.
In short this is the hotness: Keisha and Eve, gold jump ropes, kids cleaning parks and doing rap line dancing!
