You may remember 29-year-old actress Sonequa Martin-Green as Alicia’s assistant on The Good Wife, or perhaps as Once Upon a Time’s anti-magic villain Tamara. But it’s her role as badass Sasha on AMC’s comic book-inspired series The Walking Dead that has finally made her a famous face. I caught up with Martin-Green between the show’s devastating winter 2014 finale and the birth of her son, for which she was full of anticipation. Read More
For some enlisted men, The War Between the States involved a struggle between two identities. Hidden among the ranks of both the Union and Confederate armies were women in disguise, who fought and died for the cause—or lived to tell their incredible stories. The reason for the soldier’s rejection from the regiment? Regardless of the fact that Pvt. Read More

Pelvic floor therapy worked wonders, and I learned a number of exercises to do on my own and with my boyfriend before sex, which included everything from massage to dilators. My then-boyfriend was very supportive, but we’ve since broken up. I’m hoping to start dating again soon, but I’m not sure how to approach sex with a new guy. Despite the progress I’ve made, sex remains difficult. Read More

“Went to the bar, ordered a Shirley Temple, pretended to be African” – I read over the caption beside the two images depicting a woman in brightly patterned clothing, and my eyes scanned wildly as I tried to comprehend why the black, smiling face in the photographs was connected to pale, white shoulders.  The original set of Facebook photos, which depict a white woman in blackface, were shared on yoga instructor Freidel Kushman’s personal Facebook page on September 28th. The photos have since been shared over a thousand times and have over seven hundred comments. Read More
