Skateboarding is pretty cool. A girl skateboarding is awesome. But a girl skateboarding in Afghanistan? Probably couldn’t get better than that.
Skateistan began as a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Kabul, Afghanistan. Now, they’re an international nonprofit charity providing skateboarding and educational programming in Afghanistan, Cambodia, and Pakistan. Read More
Hasbro has released an advertisement for their board-game version of Zynga’s popular Words With Friends game. The game really doesn’t seem to be any different from Scrabble. The commercial features a group of women playing the word game and coming up with words like...wait for it...“bikini,” “cupcake,” and “diet.”
“Okay, well there’s no ‘diet’ in my future, so ‘later,’” says one of the women in her best Cher Horowitz voice as she plays the word “later. Read More

Sadly, I missed last week’s episode of OUAT due to Hurricane Sandy–however, I am grateful that I didn’t have any actual problems to deal with. But it gave me some time to rethink my weekly recaps, and instead of doing a long, boring recap of every scene, I’ve decided to focus on five hilarious, shocking, bewildering, or just WTF moments from each episode. Without further delay, here’s what happened in this week's episode:
Emma’s Past. The episode is called Tallahassee, and for a good reason. Read More
If you want women to have the same rights as men, the best thing you can do is vote tomorrow. The ERA Education Project focuses on ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment, which simply states that women and men are equal under the law.
“Why is this still even a question? Aren’t all people supposed to be equal in the U.S.? Aren’t women people? What on earth is going on here?” says Kamala Lopez, founder of the ERA Education Project. Read More
Its probably no surprise that rapper Snoop Dogg (Lion, whatever) wants to legalize marijuana. But he along with over 600 hundred other celebrities and politicians have joined together on the new website Marijuana Majority with the common goal of legalizing weed. Read More
“I bet when you’re 10 you’ll love pink, and you’ll love princesses,” said Pippa Middleton to a 6 year old who said she was a sort of tomboy and liked things that “boys like.”
Sigh. The event was a promotion for Pippa’s new party-planning book “Celebrate.” (I wonder if it’s got gender specific themed parties?) She let reporters film a craft session with costumed kids while she wore plain clothes.
WOW. Read More
As it turns out, Disney’s Princess Sofia that I wrote about last week is not Latina. As a refresher, Jamie Mitchell, producer of the TV show “Sofia the First,” said at a press conference that Sofia was Latina, after a question from a blogger as to why Sofia’s mom has darker skin. Now, Nancy Kanter, Disney Junior Worldwide’s senior vice president of original programming and general manager, says that producer Mitchell “misspoke. Read More

Rumplestiltskin and Belle had quite an interesting beginning in Season One, as they were Beauty and the Beast. I absolutely worship Rumbelle, and was thrilled to see another episode about this power couple. Rumple is one of the most mysterious characters, and this episode finally revealed some information about him.
The episode begins in Storybrooke with Belle having doubts about Rumple and concerns about if he’s really going to change or keep using magic to control others. Read More
Disney screwed up this week. Big Time. Twice. Retailer Barneys has announced a holiday display featuring the Disney character Minnie Mouse, who has a disturbingly disproportionate and unhealthy body at 5’11” and a size 0. Wow. But wait, there’s more! A model-like Daisy Duck and Goofy are also featured. Read More

Whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican, somewhere in the middle, or just someone who likes to poke fun at politics, Fab's collection of political items seems to have something for everyone.
Two of the items are Romney and Obama candy dispensers, cleverly named Political Poopers. If you have a dog, you can buy eco-friendly biodegradable poop bags to show your preference or “smear the rival” (eww). There’s also a cool tote bag with a graphic of Obama with an afro. Read More
