by Gina Furfaro

The ladies from the Canadian magazine WORN Fashion Journal will host a talk on Wednesday May 14th at 7pm on the role of women in the publishing industry. The event is being held at The Housing Works Bookstore Cafe to celebrate the release of their latest book out on Drawn and Quarterly. The discussion features BUST’s co-founder, Laurie Henzel along with other rad women in publishing such as Ayesha A. Siddiqi (the Ideas Editor at Buzzfeed), Marjon Carlos (writer and cultural critic), and Serah-Marie McMahon (the Editor-in-Chief of WORN Fashion Journal).  Fiona Duncan will moderate the discussion surrounding their experiences working in an industry that has come a long way, but still has a long way to go.

Have magazines like BUST changed the role of women in the publishing industry? Have female professionals successfully created their own space in this field? Come find out! – at the panel, Strong Female Leads: Beyond Algorithms in Publishing.

If you’re as eager as I am to hear what these accomplished women have to say, check it out!!
