Record Store Day – Great Live Shows All Over the US!

by Web Intern

In the world of iTunes and BitTorrents, it’s nice to give local records stores some recognition. Enter Record Store Day . On April 18, over 1000 indie record shops across the U.S. will participate with appearances by all sorts of awesome bands.

Among the participating bands, The Breeders’ Kim and Kelley Deal will be at Shake It in Cincinnati, Chris Cornell and The Bad Plus at Electric Fetus in Minneapolis, Erykah Badu and the Cannabinoids at Good Records in Dallas, Ra Ra Riot at Flat Black and Circular, East Lansing, MI (acoustic set), Company Of Thieves with a signing and performance at Rolling Stone in Norridge, IL, The Toadies at Silver Platters, Bellevue, WA, Scott Ian from Anthrax will make an appearance at Hollywood’s Amoeba Music, Manchester Orchestra at Criminal Records, Atlanta, GA, The Bouncing Souls at Generation Records, NYC.

There will also be special releases out that day from bands like Radiohead, The Decemberists, My Morning Jacket and Wilco.

There are so many fantastic acts that will be performing or releasing records that I couldn’t name them all here without crashing our server (or crashing the entire internet), so go to the Record Store Day site and check it out.

Anyone in NYC, please think fondly and sympathetically of me if you go see the Bouncing Souls. They’ve been one of my favorite bands since I was in high school and every time I see them play live they’re ridiculously fantastic. The thought of them up close and acoustic makes me swoon. But I have to work and I can’t go see them at Generation. So sad. -Liza
