Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe Leaving “Parks and Recreation”

by Hallie Marks

This is LITERALLY the saddest news I’ve heard all week. As a huge Parks and Recreation fan, I’m bummed to hear that both Rashida Jones (Ann Perkins) and Rob Lowe (Chris Traeger) are leaving after 13 episodes into the next season. Jones, who has starred in the show since the pilot, spent the end of the last season trying to get pregnant with Lowe’s character. Presumably, their on-again/off-again relationship and her potential pregnancy will be tied into their exit from the show, although both have become such major characters that it is hard to imagine the show without them.

Both actors are have many new projects ahead of them, so this certainly won’t be the last time we will see them on air, but there’s no doubt that the NBC comedy will feel a little emptier without them.
