Pay Homage with a Side of Homefries…

by Team Intern

For those Bay Area Busties, this weekend  marks the opening of Candacy Taylor’s exhibition Dishing It Out at the San Francisco Library, introducing you to one of America’s most treasured subcultures; our career waitresses. Opening tomorrow, February 14th, this exhibit documents those hard working ladies who’ve been slinging burgers, coffee, and familiar faces to loyal patrons for decades. As well as the collection of photographs that Candacy has captured of these sassy servers, throughout the month there will be oral histories with veteran waitresses, and a meet and greet with Candacy herself. BUST fans may remember seeing this story by Candacy in our Feb/March ’08 issue, which is still available to all in our boobtique! I totally had a favorite waitress at the diner by my house growing up, her name was Fay and she had been serving flapjacks at the Pancake Corral for over 40 years! She always remembered my name and my order (strawberry pancakes with whipped cream of course). These women are irreplaceable for sure.
