Lorde Flaunts Her Flaws and Turns Down Photoshop

by kelsey haight

Lorde learned a lesson last year after criticizing some of her fellow pop stars Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez for having “unfeminist lyrics” or for being too “unobtainable and flawless.” It’s safe to say that Lorde wasn’t trying to be catty or harsh, and seems more like the kind of girl who was more interested in holding people accountable and reminding us that celebrities aren’t perfect. We know she has definitely changed her tune since hanging out with Taylor Swift and many rumors of their blooming bromance. Glad to see y’all grew together rather then starting a catfight, ladies.

Well, Lorde just keeps making us like her more and more by becoming as open-minded and sweet as possible. Not only does she have a lovely boyfriend who supports her and is incredibly outspoken, she is also savvy to media scrutiny and body image. I’m getting vibes that Lorde can handle publicity better then many pop princesses before her. Perhaps this is a jab at social medias obsession with how women look and treat one another? The whole situation is very reminiscent of Lena Dunham’s Vogue fiasco, just handled better.

Lorde took to Twitter to openly acknowledge two photos of her, one retouched and one with a few blemishes. She took this opportunity to remind us all how much she doesn’t support it, or need it. Lorde concluded her tweet with a friendly reminder, “remember flaws are ok :-)”

Keep doing you, Lorde, and may your legions of fans follow this down to earth and au natural lead.
