Little Girls Drop F-bombs for Feminism in New Viral Video

by Julia Zdrojewski

“What’s more offensive- little girls saying ‘fuck’ or the fucking unequal and sexist way society treats girls and women?”

That’s the question posed during FCKH8’s video “Potty-Mouthed Princesses Drop F-Bombs for Feminism,” aiming to draw attention to words that should be more offensive to society than fuck- for instance: pay inequality and rape. FCKH8 is a for-profit advocacy t-shirt company that takes $5 from every t-shirt sold to benefit anti-sexism organizations and projects.

Video producer Mike Kon commented,

“Some adults may be uncomfortable with how these little girls are using a bad word for a good cause. It is shocking what they are saying, but the real shock is that women are still paid less than men for the same work in 2014, not the use of the F-word. The big statistic that 1 out of 5 women are sexually assaulted or raped is something society seems to find less offensive than a little four letter word and we love how these girls draw attention to that imbalance.”

The company is catching controversy, not only for the video which features six girls and one boy enthusiastically saying the word “fuck” approximately fifteen times (and was temporarily taken down from Youtube before being replaced with a censored version too), but also because consumers have been questioning whether or not FCKH8 is trying to sell feminism (among other social issues) for profit.
