Laci Green Exposes YouTube Creep Sam Pepper

by Natalia Hadjigeorgiou

The YouTube community is at a loss with recent accusations of sexual assault directed towards popular “prankster,” Sam Pepper. This British vlogger has over 2 million subscribers on YouTube and over 1.1 million followers on Twitter. A majority of his fans are young women.

Personally, I’m shocked that he was able to gain a fan base on YouTube, considering his prank videos that involve violating women. His most recent video, which promoted the allegations from victims, was a video, “Fake Hand Ass Pinch Prank.” The video has been removed from YouTube for breaking its terms of service. In the video, he sexually violates various unsuspecting women on the street, many whom were visibly upset. One woman says, “I don’t like that,” while he laughs. In another video, “How To Pick Up Girls With A Lasso”, he physically restrains women on the street with a lasso, many of his targets are seriously alarmed. Pepper simply laughs even when a group of men attack him for trapping their female friend.

Laci Green, a popular sex education YouTube vlogger, wrote an open letter to Sam Pepper asking him to stop. Many popular YouTubers, including John and Hank Green, Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart, supported her letter:

“We are deeply disturbed by this trend and would like to ask you, from one creator to another, to please stop. Please stop violating women and making them uncomfortable on the street for views. Please stop physically restraining them and pressuring them to be sexual when they are uncomfortable. Please show some respect for women’s right to their own bodies. While it may seem like harmless fun, a simple prank, or a “social experiment”, these videos encourage millions of young men and women to see this violation as a normal way to interact with women.”

The letter inspired young women to confess that they were victims of Pepper’s sexual assault. Green made a video, “Sam Pepper Exposed,” which explains what he allegedly had done and admits that there are young women with serious allegations ready to take legal action.

A few weeks later she returned with “Sam Pepper Exposed 2,” saying that while Pepper has lost contracts and is no longer allowed at YouTube conventions, he has faced no legal consequences. This recent video of Green’s explains rape trials, the role of the legal system, and victim blaming. Four reports of alleged assault have been filed with police and this has even been drawing attention from BBC.

Laci Green is continuing to work with the victims in pressing charges and continuing her Sex+ videos. You can check her out her videos here.
