Hot Bread Kitchen Event: NYC May 14, 2011

by Kate Senecal

Hot Bread Kitchen is a non-profit social enterprise in New York City that works to better the lives of low-income women and their families. They accomplish this by paying women while they learn the necessary skills to launch successful businesses in the food industry.  And for the most part, the program is supported by the money they raise selling the delicious multi-ethnic breads made by their bakers.

But Hot Bread Kitchen is about to hold an amazing fund-raising event. On May 14, 2011 they willl be hosting a one- day bread-baking workshop led by the city’s best female bakers at their production space at La Marqueta in East Harlem (1590 Park Avenue New York, NY 10029).

From 8.30am to 5.30pm join Amy Scherber (Amy’s Bread) Jessamyn Rodriguez (Hot Bread Kitchen) Sarah Black (Fairway Market) Monica Von Thun Calderon (Grandaisy Bakery)  Karen Bornarth (Le Pain Quotidien) Sharon Burns-Leader  (Bread Alone) and Rhonda Crosson (French Culinary Institute) for workshops and a roundtable discussions about all things bread.
