Amy Schumer & Goldie Hawn To Co-Star In The Ultimate Mother-Daughter Comedy

by Danniah Daher

An Amy Schumer/Goldie Hawn collaboration is making all of our dreams come true.

Goldie Hawn is finally returning to the big screen for the first time since 2002, playing Amy Schumer’s on-screen mother in a yet-to-be-named film directed by Jonathan Levine.

Hawn last starred in the 2002 film The Banger Sisters before dedicating the next 13 years to her organization The Hawn Foundation.

“She’s amazing,” Hawn, 70, told a group of reporters at the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability’s “The Champions of Our Planet’s Future” Gala in Los Angeles about co-starring with Schumer, 34. “We’re getting ready to play a really, really funny movie together,” she said. “I’m extremely excited about it. It’s going to be a blast!”

We all know Schumer is the queen of comedy, but Hawn is no newbie to making audiences laugh either—she starred in HouseSitter opposite Steve Martin, Overboard alongside her boyfriend of 33 years, Kurt Russell, and The First Wives Club with Bette Midler and Diane Keaton.

Hawn is delighted in her new-found motivation to get back on the big screen. “The one thing that gets under your skin is the one thing that many times God gave you to do. So I felt, well, my career is amazing, but I’m not doing this to reestablish a career, but I am doing it because it’s one of the things that makes me happy. So that’s what I’m doing.”
