Couple Catches Barbie Flu and Won’t Stop Until They’re All Plastic

Anastasia Reskoss (20) and Quinton Dehar (23) are a French couple making headlines for the dolla-dolla-bills they’ve been dropping trying to morph into the human forms of Barbie and Ken. Theirs is a classic story of boy meets girl: eyes met from across deck at a yacht party and they knew in that moment they had found the person with whom they would get extensive plastic surgery and live happily ever after… It kinda makes me wish I had someone to never grow old with!

The two seem to be suffering from the trendy virus known as Barbie Flu. Patient zero Valeriya Lukyanova took the internet limelight back in 2012 inspiring others to follow in her human-doll footsteps. She hails from the Ukraine but the hazardous dieting and drastic plastic surgery to achieve the Barbie look has become a world-wide phenomenon. Anastasia got her first plastic surgeries when she was 17–augmenting her breasts and nose. Since then she and her Quinten have spent 320k (or more like their parents have) on surgeries including botox injections, multiple nose jobs, butt implants, cheek fillers, veneers, nail extensions, eye-bag removal and more. This isn’t even the end of the surgical road for these odd partners in crime, they have plans to continue going under the knife — after all, it’s their main shared interest, according to Quinten.

It doesn’t seem to be an end goal for the Ken and Doll (soon to be legal names of Anastasia and Quinton) it’s more about the #lifestyle. Though they profess to be going after the perfect resemblance to their plastic heroes they still barely echo Barbie and Ken unless there is a day-after-club Barbie and hipster-man-child Ken I missed growing up. The persona of Barbie and Ken seem more like what they’re after which is even more disturbing than the looks because at least dolls have looks (even if it’s a warped beauty standard) they do not however have personalities! Anastasia said “I felt so much better after my first nose job and boob job — it was like having armour!” So I imagine that retreating into these fake identities is a way of protecting themselves. Sophomoric psychology aside, if you feel yourself coming down with Barbie Fever, go volunteer somewhere!
