‘Clueless’ Director Amy Heckerling’s New Undead Comedy: Check Out the Trailer!

by Intern Scarlet

Amy Heckerling is the greatest. Not only is she responsible for national treasures like Clueless (1995) and Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), but she is one of the few female directors working in Hollywood, period. As an aspiring movie-maker, her awesomely quirky comedies give me a reason to get up in the morning. So when I saw that the trailer for her new movie Vamps (2012) had been released, I flipped out.

Starring BUST cover girl Krysten Ritter as well as Alicia Silverstone, Sigourney Weaver, and Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride), Vamps tells the story of two roommates who are trying to navigate life, love, and vampirism in modern-day New York City. Vamps makes hilarious use of the witty Valley Girl-inspired dialogue from Clueless that we love so much.

Now I’ve had enough of vampire movies just as much as the next girl, so if you’re instantly turned off by the title, please watch the trailer. It’s a funny, fresh, female-centric, and totally Amy Heckerling comedy.

Vamps is slated to premiere in select theaters on November 11th.
