Breaking Bad Gets The Yarn Bomb Treatment

by Solange Castellar

If you’re a fan Breaking Bad, dry your finale tears ’cause you’re in for a treat! Recently, Do or Dine owner/chef Justin Warner and New York Post reporter Kate Briquelet spotted Breaking Bad yarn bombs in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, NY. On the entrance of the G train at Bedford and Nostrand stands a simple crocheted “BrBa,” the show’s infamous symbol, and on the corner of Dekalb Ave and Spencer Ct is a fence that holds a knitted sign that reads “I <3 JESSE PINKMAN” with a woman’s silhouette.

The phrase is just missing Jesse’s signature “Bitch” :'(

The creative genius behind these bombs is 24-year-old crochet expert extraordinaire, London Kaye O’Donnell. According to DNAinfo New York, O’Donnell started a 30-day challenge of yarn bombing her Bed-Stuy neighborhood with multicolored knits of people, hearts, animals, and other patterns. Her project blossomed to 80 pieces on fences, lamp posts, trees, and mailboxes. Now she’s crocheting things from Breaking Bad, and we should all give her a million huge hugs.

Believe me when I say, I will trek out to Bed-Stuy this weekend just to take a quick pic with these yarn bombs. I will forever love BB and a good yarn bomb. It’s sad enough that I have to cope with this beloved show’s ending (I literally couldn’t speak after the series finale), but now I can show my love and devotion for Jesse Pinkman by posing next to that sign. And at least O’Donnell can death stare people down and say, “I AM THE ONE WHO CROCHETS!”
