As if writing and acting in Girls, taking on haters, and making bold pants-less fashion statements wasn’t enough, Lena Dunham is working on a whole new show. Dunham and Girls showrunner Jenni Konner are working with HBO on a new comedy based on the forthcoming memoir of Betty Halbreich, a Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper and generally badass old lady. Halbreich’s memoir, All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go, will likely cover the 36 years she has spent working at Bergdorf’s (she’s 85, and has no intention of retiring any time soon). Halbreich has dressed divas from Liza Minelli to Meryl Streep, and worked on multiple Woody Allen movies. She also consulted on another HBO show, Sex and the City, helping to immortalize the sartorial sensibilities of an entire generation of women (nbd).

I guess we used to think this was cute?

Hopefully, Dunham and Konner will apply the wit and honesty that makes Girls so spot on to this new project.  Then again, a show about an 85-year-old New York legend should probably rely a little less heavily on full frontal nudity, cocaine, and Donald Glover talking dirty. Plus, I’m pretty sure the mesh top Hannah debuted last episode would literally give Betty Halbreich a heart attack.
