It’s been about a year since we’ve had any new content from Oscar-winning screenwriter/total badass Diablo Cody, and if you’re anything like me this fact is a total bummer. Well, fear not, my fellow Diablo Cody fans! Along with penning the Evil Dead remake set to come out in the spring, Cody is also developing a sitcom for ABC called Alex + Amy.

According to Entertainment Weekly, this show is a “Comedy about a romance between an ambitious 22-year-old Millenial guy and a 32-year-old Gen X woman who have just moved in together and are very much in love.” As we all know, happy couples don’t make good television, and I’m sure this intergenerational couple will hit some speed bumps along the way. It’ll be interesting to see how Cody handles the differences between these two generations. Considering her experience writing Millenial characters (Juno, Jennifer’s Body) and more "grown up" Gen X-ers (Young Adult), and her signature quirky dialogue, I’m super-excited to see how this show pans out.

ABC seems like a good home for this kind of sitcom, given their penchant for quirky single-camera sitcoms like Modern Family and Suburgatory. Though we don’t know much about Alex + Amy yet, I trust Cody to bring a fun and poignant show to primetime. You bet your hamburger phone I’ll be parking my butt in front of the TV whenever Alex + Amy premieres.
