Girls creator, director, star, and all around fabulous lady Lena Dunham has been selected to give a keynote address at next year’s South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival (SXSW). Along with Dunham, film producer/horror expert Jason Blum and YouTube sensation Casey Neistat will also keynote.
This news is particularly exciting, as next year will be the first time SXSW has programmed keynote addresses. As festival topper Janet Pierson explains, “Though our conference has long featured dynamic speakers, we’re kicking it to a new level this year,” “By adding a daily Keynote, we aspire to further highlight and draw all eyes to creators who impact our culture in diverse and fascinating ways. Our first three keynotes epitomize the root of what SXSW Film stands for: singular vision, DIY creation, and gleefully coloring outside the established lines.”
Dunham, who premiered her breakthrough film Tiny Furniture at the festival three years ago, will no doubt give a fabulous address, and we’ll all be eagerly awaiting its (hopefully) inevitable arrival on YouTube.
The SXSW Film Conference and Festival will take place March 7-5 in Austin, Texas. To find out more, check out the website here.
