Time Travellin’ Ladies: Take a trip to 100 Years ago with These Super-High Res Photos

by Debbie Stoller

These high-def photos of women from almost 100 years ago will raise some questions. Like: How did they did their hair like that??

Ever wonder what women of the past used to dress like, act like, and think like? Well, while photos can only really answer the first part of that, I just stumbled across a buttload of amazing, high resolution images, and I have become obsessed. These photos have so much detail, so much information, spend enough time looking at them and you will really feel like you just took a little trip to the past.

The photos as shown below are cute, but not particularly impressive.

To see them in their full glory you need to click on them, which will take you to the high-res version on shorpy.com, which also sells any of these photos as prints.

School girls. So many personalities in this one. Maybe one of them will grow up to be a lady subway guard.

A day at the beach, 1910
Clearly, this was taken before towels were invented. Also: Can you spot the tight man butt cheeks?!

Ladies Lounge, 1913

These ladies got their own lunchroom. And from the looks of it, their own pots of coffee as well. Wait – is that a flat screen tv in the background?

Someone’s got to make sure those beach costumes aren’t too short. Also, those bathing caps look so much more comfortable. Bring ’em back!
