I’m so excited to go to Bregen Street Comics on Friday night to check out the launch party of The Strumpet 2, a comics anthology brought to you by the creators of Whores of Mensa, This issue's theme is travel and it features the work of Kripa Joshi, Julia Scheele, Patrice Aggs, Emily Ryan Lerner, Badaude, Tanya Meditzky, Choi Juhyun, Robin Ha, Karrie Fransman, Jeremy Day, Ellen Lindner, and more.
I really enjoy Ellen Lindner's comics and I think many people who read BUST would enjoy them too. I first became familiar with Ellen’s work when I picked up her self-published book Undertow, at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art Festival in 2009. The story follows Rhonda, a very troubled teen, and her poverty-stricken group of friends who live in Coney Island during the 1960s. The book really resonated with me and my taste in comics, and I would highly recommend it to people who are interested in counterculture. Since then I’ve been supporting of projects she is involved with by contributing to the Kickstarter fundraising campaign for both issue one and two of The Strumpet.
I can hardly wait to get my copy of the 52 page issue of The Strumpet 2 and see the original pages by the contributing artists on display in the gallery at Bergen Street Comics in Brooklyn. Come party on December 7th at 7pm!
