Indie fashion label Evil Kitty will be showing off their Spring 2010 collection at the Chicago Fashion Incubator Pop Up Shop at The 900 Shops this Saturday, April 10th.  The brand, described by Social Stylists as "sometimes classic, sometimes playful, and always a little mischevious," will be offing free mini-makeovers at the event and free goodie bags (which include a copy of BUST!) to the first 30 guests to RSVP.  There will also be free copies of BUST along with complementary "sips and nibbles." Haven't...
New York's Full Figured Fashion Week is back and this year's event promises to be even better than the last.  After last year's endeavor attracted thousands of designers, models, retailers and shoppers, this year, founder Gwen DeVoe is upping the ante by aspiring to "make a serious impression on a thin focused industry." With four days of panels and events, including a guided tour of New York's best plus sized hot spots and a workshop for aspiring plus size-models, the event will close with "a...
This month's issue of French Elle features plus size beauty Tara Lynn on its cover and in a roughly twenty page spread. While it's refreshing to see a non-impossibly thin model on the cover of a high fashion glossy, I agree with the folks over at The Cut and long for a day in which models of all sizes, from skinny to plus sized and everything in between, can be featured in the same magazine and plus sized models won't only appear as special features....

Did you ever do that thing where you sat down with your yearbook and went through each page, marking down notes on pictures of your classmates that said stuff like, "always smells like bologna," "has a juicy booty," or, "ate gum from under a desk once?"  Did you ever do this? Hopefully if the answer is yes, you did this during a high school/college age, and not last week, because that's some America's Most Wanted crap right there. But yeah, this book that I have...
Everyone's favorite midwestern rapper/crafter extraordinaire, Leslie Hall, will be making an in-store appearance today at Fat Fancy's Southwest Portland location from 3 - 4pm with her performance group, the LYs. Come get the new album, Back2Back Palz, signed by Leslie herself! While you're at it, score some choice threads from Midwest Diva, Leslie's clothing line, or some Leslie and the Lys official merch. If that's not enough Leslie for you, check out their show tonight at Dante's. Wear your finest Gem Sweater.   Image courtesy of LeslieHall.com...

Nancy Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and Jacqueline Kennedy have more in common than being iconic women of this century: They’ve all walked in Beth Levine’s shoes. Christened as “The First Lady of Shoe Design,” Levine introduced the mule, the stiletto, and even boots to the wardrobes of women across America, and impacted fashion in the 1960s, an era of which remains influential in fashion to this day. Now her life of design is immortalized in a book by Helene Verin, Beth Levine Shoes....

Another Williamsburg Fashion Weekend is almost upon us and this season's lineup is surely not to dissappoint.  The event, held this coming weekend at Glasslands Gallery, will feature local and national independent designers including BUST faves Ruffeo Hearts Lil Snotty, whose use of bright colors and playful patterns surely make a statement, and SDN whose sustainable pieces put a modern twist on a classically polished aesthetic.  There will be live musical performances by Pink Stallone, MNDR, and more.  So come support under-the-radar art and...
American Apparel is on the hunt for their next soft-core porn model, asking women to put two cheeks to the wind for their "Best Bottom in the World" competition.  The clothing company is having women submit photos of their backsides clad in AA products to their website, where they are being scored and commented on.  It's the new "Hot or Not," except you feel even sleazier after looking at it.Am I surprised at Dov Charney's slimeball marketing tactics? No. Was there something about the butt...

We’ve gotten a sneak peek at Sonia Rykiel’s new line for H&M, and, being as that the pieces so far sport fun colors, bows, and bedazzling, we love it. Rykiel, known for her knits, brings adorable sweaters and accessories from her French boutiques to the public with this collection, her second with the Swedish retailer.     The playful yet wearable pieces will almost certainly be a hit, though H&M has seen its share of controversy lately. The line is set to be released in selected stores on...

Okay, I know what you're thinking: "A blog about Valentine's Day stuff, already? Sheesh." Valentine's Day is around the corner - happily for lovebirds and lovers alike. Are you fresh out of ideas? Or, perhaps you should treat yourself this year to something sweet. Lend your eyes over to the Stump ring.    Sweet but not too girly, this Stump ring hits the nail on the head. From the ethereal Digby & Iona (some of our faves at the 2009 Holiday Craftacular)  this quirky ring even has a heart...
