While some Chinese women like property tycoon, Zhang Xin, are huge financial successes, many Chinese women are still undervalued and under threat, as CNN reports.
According to Tsinghua University scholar Leta Hong Fincher, there has been a sudden emergence of the phrase, “leftover women.” The derogatory phrase normally refers to spoiled food, but in this case, it’s used for educated women who are still single over the age of 27.
It’s repulsive and horribly degrading to have scholarly women cast out for the fact that they’re neither married nor partnered. Read More
Last Tuesday afternoon, school bookkeeper Antoinette Tuff of the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy spent an hour on the phone with the Atlanta police as she faced gunman Michael Brandon Hill. With the police on the line, she calmly convinced Hill to surrender his weapon. Hill expressed to Tuff that he was off his medication, and in exchange, Tuff attempted to calm Hill with personal stories, counseling the man not to end his own life.
AND IT WORKED. Tuff courageously put her life in danger to save an entire children’s school. Read More
Okay, Mark Ruffalo, you’ve caught my attention again. Aside from your beautiful face ( c’mon people, HAVE YOU LOOKED AT HIM?!), your support to end fracking has been so on point. And now you’ve lent your voice to reproductive rights. You gorgeous man, your political activism and sultry salt-n-pepa hair have done me in.
(Sidenote: Sorry Ruffz for that objectification from me. It’s just really hard to reign it in when your face and your bod AND your politics are so lovely. Le sighhh. Read More

It’s safe to say that Netflix's Orange is The New Black has taken over my life. It’s okay; the first step is always admitting you have a problem, and I’m an OITNB addict. I’m at the point of wanting to read the real Piper Chapman’s (who’s actually Piper Kerman IRL) actual memoir, Orange is The New Black: My Year In A Women’s Prison, and possibly starting a book club amongst my friends.
