9 Snarky, Sweary Cross-Stiches You’ll Want To Hang In Your Home

by Erika W. Smith

We are all about the trend of untraditional, snarky embroideries. And now Katie Kutthroat, of the Etsy store Needles And Pins — whose designs have been featured on Girls — is releasing a book of ‘hilariously inappropriate cross-stitch’ called Bless This Mother-effing Home: Sweet Stitches For Snarky Bitches (out now!).

In the introduction, Katie Kutthroat writes:

I, myself, picked up cross-stitch around the age of 14. I lived briefly with my aunt who ran a day care from her house and she did lots of arts and crafts to pass the downtime/nap time. I remember learning how to stitch names on towels and religious quotes but quickly lost interest in it as I was just ‘too punk rock’ for Jesus.

Later, she met Subversive Cross-Stitch owner Julie Jackson, began creating snarky cross-stitches of her own, and caught the notice of HBO and tons of websites and magazines. Now, there’s the book! These embroideries are ‘perfect for framing or sharing with your friends, family, or mortal enemies.’ The illustrations come with perforated edges so you can tear them out and recreate the designs on your own. And we’re excited to share a few of our favorites with you below.
