I’ve never shared my missed connections with the World Wide Web, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like reading the ones that other people post. From the woman who’s trying to find the guy who was eating beef chili to the man looking for the girl on the C train with the oyster.com bag, you can’t help but wonder if any of these people, well…connect.

Apparently Sophie Blackall wondered the same thing. With her new book, Missed Connections: Love, Lost & Found, she illustrates some of the more memorable stories posted on Craigslist.

Tomorrow night at WORD Bookstore in Greenpoint, Blackall is celebrating the release of her book by sharing some of the posts she included.

Brett Fletcher Lauer and Gretchen Scott of Ships That Pass, the blog that is a “collection of fake, imagined, and literary missed connections posted to Craigslist and then re-posted with real responses,” will be there. Along with audience members who will re-tell their very own missed connections.

Feel like you want to share your own tales of love’s lost opportunities? Just email Jenn at [email protected]

The event starts at 7 pm. You might want to show up on time or else you’ll end up writing your own post about the one who got away. Just saying.
