What’s better than a playlist featuring Beyoncé, En Vogue AND Dolly Parton?! A playlist that inspires you to get out and vote this Nov. 4.
Duh.
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund recently collaborated with the awesome DJ-ing forces that are MC Lyte and Samantha Ronson to create the first-ever Women are Watching Spotify Playlist! The playlist, which features a unique variety of diverse ladies, aims to inspire individuals to get off their seats and dance (and by dance I mean VOTE, although dancing is cool too).
When it came to creating a soundtrack for strong women’s voices, rap-pioneer MC Lyte told Planned Parenthood she was cognizant of reaching all women with this specific collection of music.
“Women of color are pivotal in determining the outcome of this election,” she said. “I know how important it is to empower my community to get out the vote and what better way to do that than with my favorite female-powered music tracks?”
Samantha Ronson, DJ/singer/songwriter and a longtime advocate for women’s rights and health, agreed. “The more it helps motivate people to get off their asses, dance to the beat, and get to the polls, the better.”
Ladies! Men! Anyone over the age of 18! Midterm elections are Nov. 4 and we can’t afford to sit this one out. Pop in your earbuds, crank up the playlist (my personal favorite is “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree) and get yourself to your polling place. Make your voice heard and your vote count!
