Get your girl band on this Saturday, April 19, for Record Store Day in New York City and across the country. The day promotes what record shops do best: provide rare goods for the hungriest fans to slobber over. You might be able to order pork soup buns online these days, but the stuff we're about to tell you about is available exclusively at independent retailers on Record Store Day. Find your participating store here and you'll go from "But it's my Saturdaaay!" to lacing up your Chucks in no time.

If you're in the Brooklyn area, check out Rough Trade: they've got ten hours of stellar live music for you, kicking it off with two female-fronted projects. Slothrust mesmerizes with their heavy sound and blunt lyrics, hoarse female vocals cutting over muscly guitar. They're playing at 2 PM, following Betty Who, a dance-y, girly pop extravaganza perfect for an early afternoon spot at 1. Start your Record Store Day right with some lady-rock-based fun.

The biggest female music star of all time, Dolly Parton, is releasing a special blue 7-inch vinyl featuring two tracks from her upcoming album Blue Smoke. The album artwork itself feels like an homage to the days of records when there was so much space on that beautiful square of cardboard to fill, and the tracks are titled "Blue Smoke" and "Home": instant classics, right? Apparently she even covers Bob Dylan and Bon Jovi!

Record label Kill Rock Stars, who also signed Sleater-Kinney, are issuing a re-press of Heaven to Betsy's 1994 album Calculated. If you acquired your turntable in the last ten years, you couldn't get your mitts on this bad boy, but here it is! If you're feeling less snobby at the moment you can download and listen to the album on the label's bandcamp, just don't forget to reassert your cred by picking up a vinyl copy Saturday.

We wish we could somehow get Nirvana's epic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances with Lorde and Joan Jett on vinyl, but for now Universal is giving us a lovely 7-inch of "Pennyroyal Tea" and "I Hate Myself And Want To Die."

Veruca Salt are putting out a 10-inch--with two new songs! Their hit "Seether" will be on one side and new tracks "The Museum of Broken Relationships" and "It's Holy" will be on the other side of the single--released by their very first label, Minty Fresh Records.

Orange is the New Black fans in the house? If you're more of a TV geek than a music nerd, Record Store Day has something for you, too. An orange 7-inch vinyl of the show's theme song, "You've Got Time" by Regina Spektor, is being released by Warner Brothers--a collector's item to be sure.

And what about Fleetwood Mac fans? If you love vinyl, we know you love the classics. Autumn Defense and Josh Rouse, both on Yep Roc Records, have put together a super-cute 7-inch single complete with a Fleetwood Mac cover. Autumn Defense's version of "Sentimental Lady" is endlessly listenable.

Also, legendary riot grrrl, Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre) released the debut album, Run Fast, with her band The Julie Ruin last September. The band will release a limited edition on Record Store Day 7” this Saturday! They've also spoiled us with an early listen. SPIN has leaked a stream of one of the 7” tracks titled “Brightside” today. Check out the “Brightside” stream HERE.

Surely by now you're ready to hunt down some serious tunage. Here's a downloadable list of every single exclusive Record Store Day release, for the uber-obsessive who like to flick through the whole pile--but don't forget, you can find your nearest participating store on the RSD website for the more get-in-get-out-types. Yay vinyl!
