If you like to dance, Sónar is the perfect place for you to nod your head till it falls off. Also known as the Sónar Festival for Advanced Music and New Media Art, the electronic-dance fest is one of the most exciting music events in Barcelona. This June 13th-16th, Sónar celebrated its 20th birthday and it was no less than a complete success.

Over the course of four full days of fresh indie jams from all over the world, the festival boasted 121,000 visitors who came to see big names like Kraftwerk and Pet Shop Boys, DJ sessions and lectures, as well as talks and initiatives about the interactive world (Sonar D+). Although not in the majority, the females who graced the stage with their presence rocked it for sure. This year we had performances from Spanish singer La Bien Querida, the Icelandic Sísy Ey, Thug Ladies DJs, Maya Jane Coles, Tutu DJ, the original Dakar artist Fatima Al Qadiri, DJ Mary Anne Hobbs, and many more. But the biggest diva of all was definitely the talented synthpop artist Natasha Khan AKA Bat for Lashes. We hung out at Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night to check out the scene. Here are some photos of the amazing outfits we thought were particularly rad.

Sónar is spreading and has already announced the dates of its events and festivals for 2014 so take note!

Reykjavik: February 13th, 14th, 15th
Tokyo: April 12th-13th
Mexico City: May 16th-17th
Barcelona: June 12th, 13th, 14th
Cape Town: December 16th
