do the eye-bleach people do mind-bleach? I need some after that mental image, maimy. yeeeech.

diva, I've seen those, although only ever in catalogues. They could look cute, if you're the sort of person who looks cute in capri pants anyway. but the shorts suit... maybe not. the jacket is just too much; shorts are there to be cool, but blazers are warm... just my 2p and gut reaction, mind. Without the blazer, city shorts can be a good look.

What do you all think of a suit that doesn't have pants or a skirt, but rather shorts/capris as part of it? I saw one featured in More Magazine this month (it's here if you need a visual: http://www.brandhabit.com/MORE).

I think it's actually kind of cute, but I think you might need to be in a more creative/casual type workplace to pull it off.

Opinions?

I've SEEN those ruched pants! Just in the store though, never seen anyone actually wearing them. They are horrible.

Mornington: I am sorry to say, ass-munching pants might actually have been BETTER. No, these little shorts had vertical seams up the middle of each ass cheek, and each seam was ruched ... and then pulled tightly taut across the beam. Ew. And THEN there was the ass-crack too, of course. And then more ruching up the side seams, I believe. And more on the front, possibly; my mind, blessedly, wanders on this point. *Eye roll*

The thing about brown lipstick is that the colors you like you don't think of as "brown". They're cinnamon or raisin or mocha or maybe even copper. But matte mud colors are NOT Teh Flattering. And that's sad. Because most women with white hair can wear SO many beautiful colors, and rock them just silly. My mom has a fair pink complexion, and she can wear almost any textile, almost any color. But her makeup tends to stay more warm-toned and vivid, rightly so. (I could probably live without the slightly goopy corals she's addicted to, but on principle the color is a good idea ... just sometimes, execution gets heavy ...)

This lady was looking for crayola crayon brown, not the prettier shades of nude, raisin or metallic that you all mentioned. Her complexion was quite fair and creamy along with snow white hair. Seriously, it wasn't a good look for her, even a brown pink/red would have looked much better. Should have clarified the shade of brown.

I'm with Maimy on the brown lipstick. There are lots of lovely shades of brown that I can and do wear. I'm not talking mud puddle here, but a nice mocha? Indeed, I'll wear it and it looks great.

hellot, I lol'd.

shades of brown lipstick can be flattering on the right person, imo, *shrug*. it just needs care.

I actually wear brown lipstick all the time, and it's not at all challenging to find. Metallic medium brown, mocha gloss, raisin-dark brown, and even nearly-black brown are all pretty regular on my rotation.

In fashion crime news, I'll leave WalkingBitch to come in and share the joys her ManlyMan photographed while the three of us strolled the Boardwalk at Coney Island. He only got the back of the Meth Queen (filthy-to-the-point-of-actual-tatters pink pajamas and wasted-face ... ooh, please lemme have some-a that yummy, yummy drug!), but ... there was one other "back" he got which epitomized the worst of the day. Without even getting into the wrong-size/black-lace-on-white outfit, allow me one single phrase of terror:

Ass ruching.

*vomits* syb, that is horrifying!!!!! I don't want to know what next, I really don't want to know.

hellotampon, that comment about her looking like a porn star just about made me shoot coleslaw out my nose.

Shiny, all taupe? Oh I'd hate to see her house.

I'd like to know why people seem to think it's appropriate to not where a bra at work then have the rest of us see your nips. Come one! This is an office, if it was hooters, then fine, but come one.

Monochromatic in a lighting store! That's just funny....

That reminds me I was in Sally's (beauty supply store) and this older woman about 65 years old was in there looking for a brown lipstick. She was complaining to the manager that she couldn't find brown lipstick anywhere - uh there is a reason you can't find it! Brown lipstick is not flattering, it makes you look like you kissed a mud puddle. She would have looked so much better in a soft rose color. Maybe she and the taupe woman are in cahoots......

seen at a lighting store today.

middle aged woman with too tight business style skirt and matching jacket of a very gold taupe color.
matching taupe shell under the jacket.
nude hose (looking rather goldish taupe)
matching taupe heels
gold earings small hoop style.
now here is the best part . . . make-up all beige-taupe including lipstick and frosted gray blonde hair.

she was the most monochromatic person i have ever seen. everything was the same color.

Short shorts and a white tanktop. Fine.

But then I started to notice the accessories, in this order:
White kitten-heeled sandals.
Long hair in pigtails
Flashy Von Dutch belt buckle.
Black bra with clear straps.
Black eyeshadow.

She looked like an aspiring porn star from a trailer park in Tennessee. And this was on a very cute girl who I stood next to in my high school graduation. A few years ago she used to wear cute sundresses a lot. I don't know what happened. And actually I think the clincher in this crime of fashion was the shoes. The rest would have looked kinda avergae with regular flip flops. Dumb, but in an average way.

I was in Orlando last weekend, and I saw a group of emo-ish boys wearing pajama pants out in public. Why?????????

you know, i saw a girl wearing a bubble skirt the other day and i swear to god, she actually rocked it so hard she made me want one. it was kind of an understated shiny purple textury fabric--tapestry or upholstery come to mind but not in a fugly way--and she was wearing it with really simple black flats and a fitted orangey-brown jacket. it actually looked awesome and i wanted it.

however, i also have to confess to wearing a skirt over pants a few days ago so maybe my taste is not to be relied on (in my defense, it was a very see-through dress and it was cold and i didn't want to just wear a slip under and all my cute tops were in the wash).

this was a classic wtf? moment...

you know those really fugly shoes, the one made to look like men's lace-up dress shoes, kindof like this but they came higher up the foot, close to the ankle, and were in bright shiny patent black. Well, a pair of those. White cargo pants, of the variety where they have these little strings on the ankle that allows you to pull them up to capri-length. Them. Capri-length, natch. Black peasanty top, off the shoulder with this big fuck-off ruffle all around. She was well-boobed, and this ruffle just sat on top...

the best bit? These fashion mistakes were more appropriate age-wise to her daughter, walking beside her looking totally normal. I just stared and stared.
