Hi everyone,

So, I just found out that I am pregnant. I have been BV free for almost 8 months but I know it is because I have been using metro gel twice a week for the past 6 months and then before that I did 21 days of BA and 10 days of Flagyl. I go back to the specialist next week but they did tell me to stop with the gel until then. Has anyone been pregnant with BV? I am just curious if it will come back more often because of the change in hormones. Any suggestions or info??

Wow CONGRATS! Were you using progesterone? As far as pregnancy with BV, the BV should be far less or even go away if your problems are hormonal (ex: not enough estrogen). Before I had my miscarriage, the BV went away completely, but after, the bv came back. So, that's how I figurerd out my problems were hormonal.

QUOTE(RN with BV @ Mar 24 2008, 05:21 AM) *
Lisa

I have taken the fem d for over a year it has helped but I have had to use other things as well, I also use the Yeast arrest and it has helped CONTROL the symptoms. However the only side effect is that for about 24 hours after using the yeast arrest I have this weird yellow brown mixed with oregeno discharge. The discharge is from the herbs in the yeast arrest so it isn't a bad thing that you see that but I was glad I had a heads up about it before I started using it. I have not found anything that actually cures the BV only helps control the symptoms. I use the yeast arrest everyday to everyother day and I have no smell and no discharge. I have also stayed on folic acid and a B complex even though that alone didn't help me, I went through several rounds of flagyl and clindamycin and within a week after taking them symptoms were back I started the fem d and antibiotics when the MD first told me I had BV I am tired of taking the antibiotics and that is when I found this site my MD had already told me about boric acid I now have everything to make the caps but am finishing up the yeast arrest first I am hoping the boric acid has the same effect without the herb discharge

Question: When you take the yeast arrest, the discharge u have... is it just the herb discharge or is it both that and the regular BV discharge? Cause I'm having both,(by the way, both discharge together is sooooo disgusting) but I've only been taking the yeast arrest for 3 days now. Is the BV discharge suppose to go away the very first day you use it?

I've been using the FemD for about 3 months and have been healthy since! I finished MetroGel and immediately began the FemD! I think that's the way to do it! I feel great!

I also switched from a low dose pill to a regular dose pill as I immediately started having problems when I went on a low dose pill. However, I've only been on the new pill for about a week.

BTW, sometimes we're going to smell from our groin area! Just like an armpit, the skin rubs together and sweats!! At the end of the day, you're obviously not going to be 100% smelling like roses......just as long as your discharge is odorless, that is all that matters....The V Book evens says sometimes our discharge can have a slight smell.....but, there definitely is a distinct BV smell.

you're right. But its so common now that guys just think girls smell like that down there and that's why vaginas have such a bad rep. Right now the smell has definitely gone from Strong to very very mild..with Fem D. but I just want it to go away. If i stop taking birth control the smell will go away but there is no way I can avoid my damn period!

So it seems to be that a lot of you ladies have used the fem d and it works sometimes and then it doesnt.
Has anyone had any consistent success. Im sure once the problem goes away some of the members stop writing to this blog. I probably would.... lol Id be so happy i would be busy having sex with my boyfriend.
Its so heartbreaking to read the blogs especially the one where there is instant success and then it comes back even worse.
My relationship has gone to shit because im too embarressed to have sex. I wouldnt even know how to explain this to him.... you know guys, odor down there is just gross to them and they just assume we dont shower and we just let it fester....
sorry for venting. this is so fucking hard!

KONPHUSION: I got your post from ther other forum.

Greetings bustie beauties. I've now been bleeding for a month!! non-stop heavy "spotting" is the best way to describe it. The doctor examined me Thursday and pretty much off the record told me I have PCOS with inuslin resistance- and that is probably what is causing the bleeding and acne. I feel like i'm goin thru puberty all over again with all these spots on my face. YUCK. Since I'm being treated for some another issue, she didnt want to start me on any meds for the bleeding yet. My options are Provera or Glucophage. Provera, she said could possibly "reboot" my hormones and my cycle and get me back on track, however, its not guaranteed. The Glucophage (which is used for diabetics also) would treat the insulin resistance, help me lose weight, correct my hormones, and sounds like this would be the best option -- HOWEVER it is not known how long i would have to take this mess.

Great! I dont know what to do. Has anyone had success with either of these treatments for PCOS??

I have to tell you that I had the same problems you are talking about and I got rid of this crap, acne and all, with estroil. NO SHIT! I wouldn't play.

Hello Everyone ,

I haven't visited this thread in quite some time..Hello to all the old BV Heads and Welcome to the Newbies! My BV is normally pretty consistent but a few weeks ago it definitely kicked into a higher gear after sex. I was like WHOA!! Then I remembered that a lot of ladies in here complained about their BV getting worse or returning after sex. But that had never been my experience until now. I took some Flagyl and did an HP wash. That helped and now the BV is back to "normal" (oxymoron, I know). I'm currently taking probiotics..Ultimate Flora (I tried the Fem D some months ago but they just didn't work as well as these). Anyway, I'm concerned because I think my BV is becoming more resistant and remedies that used to work GOOD are now just OK. This was the first time I'd taken Flagyl in years so I can't blame it on traditional antibiotics. But I was taking Oregano Oil for a few months.

My question is: Do you guys think that the "natural" antibiotics/antifungals (Tea Tree Oil, Oregano Oil, etc.) have the same affect as the pharmaceutical antibiotics in that they kill bacteria but continued use causes more problems (i.e. your body builds up a tolerance for it/bacteria becomes stronger & more resistant)? Is it OK to take these "natural" supplements for months or years at a time? I appreciate all feedback. Sorry if this has already been asked or discussed..it's been a while and I haven't read through all the posts yet.

lisabon... yes it does lose its potency... that is why it tells you to refridgerate. you made me laugh when i read that... i was asking the same question sbout that just like 2 posts before yours, but mine could have only been room tempature for like 24 hours. three weeks is a little on the long side. although i do think i would have some live bacteria still in it. as i said before alot of probiotics say that a good amount of bacteria live even when at room tempeture up to several monthes. but again that is also my question just how sensitive is fem d. is one day ok is three weeks ok. get back to us ladies.

Hey Ladies,

Here's an update on me. I've been taking the Fem D for 3 weeks now and it was helping. Discharge was not as bad as before but it still didn't go away. Anywhos, I got my period and the BV discharge came back with a vengence. It was never this bad before. Just my luck I guess.

I have a question however. My second bottle of Fem D... I had put it in the fridge in my garage and after 3 weeks, I went to get it since my other bottle ran out and to my surprise, the fridge in my garage was not even plugged in. DAMN!! Is that fem D bottle worthless now or can I still use it? I figure I can just put it in my fridge in the house and it'll be fine? Does the pills loose it's effectiveness if it hasn't been refrigerated?

Hi all, I went to a new gyn yesterday, she was very nice, but when I asked her to test me for BV, she asked me if I was having any symptoms, I told her no, but I notice it after my period..so she gave me the "blood causes increase in pH "speech ... and gave me a flagly prescription with 11 refills!!!! She told me to just use it after my period...every month!! Gosh, I wont have any good bacteria if I do that...sigh, I did'nt even bother to talk with her about probiotics and folic acid.....just venting....take care.....

so after three weeks of searching the city and finally breaking down and ordering, my fem d has arrived. skip the applause ladies... it was warm. i am so mad. i'm trying to decide if i should even take it. what do ya'll think what is your experience? it has an ice pack in it but was completely melted. i dont think i could have been warm for more than 24 hours it arrived on thursday but i could not get to it untill after work today it was in my apartment office. i went yesterday to pick it up but the office was closed when it should have been open. the ladies there said they closed an hour early by accident. what idiots. then today i called all day. im serious ALL DAY and got no answer i was going to ask them to put it in the fridge. they are so stupid up there i am glad i am moving in three weeks.. but that does not help my fem d any. sorry about my bad mood i had to get that out. back to the fem d. i think i am going to try it and see what happens. i would think it would be ok most probiotics and not totally bad even at room temp. well what do yall think?

I used to read on here a lot last year when I had bv for about 10 months which would not clear up (for longer than a week), regardless of what I used. It even led to PID which I had to take doxycycline for until the skin on my face blistered and peeled off huh.gif

I'd been on tricyclic antidepressants for a few years but started to develop some side effects last year, so was swapped onto an SSRI. Anyway, a week later... no more fishy smell. It hasn't been back since I stopped taking the tricyclic anti Ds, and that was 5 months ago. Perhaps it's coincidence but I think I had some sort of allergy to the anti Ds which caused bv (as well as high blood pressure and other problems). My vaginal health has not been great since and I've had a lot of thrush, UTIs and pain during intercourse, but my vagina has had a difficult time so I'm hoping these other problems will resolve. Anyway, for me, these other issues are no real problem after experiencing the trauma of chronic bv. I'm still frightened the bv will come back, and I'm almost afraid to write this for fear of tempting fate!

I suppose I'm just urging to look at any meds you might be on, as in my experience bv can be caused by the most unlikely medication. Of course, this might not apply to anyone on here at all, but I just feel I had to share my story as bv is a nasty thing to go through. My heart sank when I came back on here and remembered so vividly the awful feeling of frustration and disappointment when the smell returns after treatment.

Good luck everyone!

EDITED:

Hey Sprinkles babe! LOL Greetings to all my other BV challenged beauties. I went to the doc today, and found out I've got a really bad yeasty beast instead of BV or PID as I feared. thank you Lord its nothing worse. I was really shocked she said it was yeast too cuz it had alllllllll the signs of BV. How screwy is that???

Anyway, love you busties. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm going out of town to see my mom-in law. take it easy.

Welcome to the board! You got Chlamydia, HPV, and BV all at the same time, right after you lost your virginity? That sucks! You can't trust anyone, not even your husband, with your body. I go raw with my husband sometimes, but I make sure I get STD checkups also because you never know these days. Awwwww, I wish I could give you a hug. What devastating news. You decide to share something special with someone and you get way more than you bargain for. As far as your friend, I had one just like her, this girl slept with well over 35 men but has never had cooch problems that I know of, well not the bv problems that we've battled with. I can count the number of men I've had on one hand and I can't believe the problems my VAJAYJAY has given me. Anyway, try washing your panties with vinegar and wash them with hot water. As far as soap, try Dove. That should help!

It's so not fair! I too have a friend who has had many, many sexual partners...we roomed together in college for a year and one day she had sex with two different random guys, yet she has never had any vagina issues...not even a yeast infection. Me, I've only been with three guys and one of them is my husband. I had problems with BV before I lost my virginity. *sigh*

So anyway ladies, I was at the store the other day and heck yeah! Guess what I found? Tea Tree oil SUPPOSITORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dang I was like almost dancing I was ecstatic that I found these puppies! So anyway the downfall: EXPENSIVE! You only get a package of 6 suppositories for 10 bucks. Oh and that’s not the worst part, the instructions say to use them twice a day. So that’s like over $20 a week!!

Hi--they are expensive, so when I was using them often, I inserted 1/2 of a suppository every other morning. On the alternate mornings, I used estrogen cream vaginally. As time went on, I inserted 1/4 of a suppository. Keep them in the refrigerator or they get "funny."

Take care & keep your good sense of humor!
