I don't use Veg Capsules. I use 00 Gelatin caps which are made of Gelatin and Water. So, after about a week, sometimes little tiny pieces of the gel cap will come out, if it didn't all disolve.

Maybe do research on Veg caps, and see if they are disolvable, or if this is normal.

Also, are you being treated for Yeast? I don't really know what Cipro is used for. Therefore, if it wasn't the Veg caps coming back out, it sounds like you have a deeper issue.

Also, ladies on another note.. I've said this before. Another reason I feel my BV is gone, is because it is NO LONGER my 100% focus. As you can see, I don't post here very often, and I don't even lurk. I love you all to death, but constantly thinking about BV, I feel, brought on stress for me, which, didn't help my symptoms. I go days without even thinking about it. And I refuse to worry about it. Just a thought... I know it's easier for me, being that I have no symptoms now, but it hasn't always been like that.

Good luck ladies!!

Duh, I meant that they are gelcaps, the 00 just like you said. The health store pharmacist said they weren't to be used as suppositories though, but I did it anyway since it's working for you. I guess I was hoping this goo was from the capsule and nothing else. I was taking the Cipro, an antibiotic, b/c my culture didn't show any of the normal types of bacteria associated with BV, yet I had all the symptoms. I think I've come to the conclusion that I have viral vaginitis, from HPV, and there really isn't anything I can do other than try to control it. Thanks for your help and I'm happy you kicked some BV ass!

Hey, Jewelscando! I'm trying to have a "can do" attitude, but it's not easy. Okay, this might be a little gross, but I have to ask. After being treated with Cipro, actually WHILE being treated with Cipro, I started seeing symptoms of BV again. I used the tto supp. for a couple of days. A few days later, I had gobs of sticky, white stuff coming from down below. I cleaned it out with my fingers as much as possible, had sex the next day, used tto the following night. Yesterday, a little irritation in my girlie bits and when I checked, I had this white thick stuff coming out. I cleaned that out too, took a whiff, all of it smells like tto. Does this happen to you? I was thinking maybe it's from the veg capsule, but it was A LOT. I don't want to run to the dr. if I don't have to.

ME TOO!!! I have excellent results with TTO. In fact, I can't tell you, what a relief it is to have sex, whenever I want, compared to, making excuses and praying that the smell won't suddenly show up!!!

TTO suppositories was a god send for me. I can't explain why it works for me, I just know it did. I'm b.v. free.

Good luck ladies!!

hi beautiful ladies!!!!

just a lil bv update....

last time i posted i was gonna do metrogel for 10 days and femd but after 1 day of metrogel i got a realllly bad yeast infection, so i decided to do the boric acid thing since i had some from the last time i used it...i think march of this year. i did boric acid for about 9-10 days and i doubled up on the femd. one thing i don't like about boric acid is that it leaks out during the day and it's gross, then last night i did a tto capsule like jewelscando wink.gif . it is like a cough drop being blown up your cochie for real. stings a little but i can handle it...the sensation is more "cool" than a burning one. i think i'm gonna do like 1 or 2 more nights of it and wait to see....hopefully it works!!!!

hopefully i can be like you jewelscando!!!!!

Hi Lori,
Thanks very much and thanks for your very informative blog. I read the short chapter (two pages as far as I can see) on Amazon yesterday after I had posted this.) It's amazing! Now I will get an appointment with my doctor (who is very kind and helpful, thankfully) and get her to prescribe ten days of Amoxillin. I really hope I don't get all sorts of side effects afterwards.

Hey Bodil!

I highly recommend that you read The V Book:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Book-Doctors-Compl...6644&sr=8-1

That's where I got the info. about strep for my blog. I don't know much about it, but the book will tell you that it's not treated with the same antibiotics as for BV.

And trust me, U.S. doctors love prescribing antibiotics, too.

Good luck! I think it's good that at least, you got a diagnosis for strep. Better than being kept in the dark about what's really wrong.

Hello
Like most here I stumbled across this forum in search of relief. I have been battling BV since 12 yrs of age. My doctors advice then "make sure you wipe front to back" really thanks bc i like to put my poo in my vagina (sarcasm). So i had bv a few times since then and then for the past couple of years (I am 28 now) things just have not been right. I went to a gyno who scraped me for cancer which was the worst pain!!! even though he said there would be no pain, I also get chronic yeast infections which another gyno told me that that is not possible, um yeah right. so i finally found a decent doctor who sent for tests and diagnosed me with bv again and told me"make sure you wipe front to back"!!!! again I have always wiped front to back what the hell? He gave me an antibiotic which didn't make a difference and now I do not have insurance . But the doctor did run alot of tests and wasn't dismissive.

Anyway I have been trying the HP I know not a cure but wow one day without wet panties is great.

For yeast, acidophilus on its own does not help me. For supplements I am taking a probiotic formula with several diff cultures, drinking kefir, taking garlic, omega 369, and multivitamin. Hope this helps someone, since for some bv and yeast seem to be related.

Thanks for letting me rant.

I have read on the blog you keep here that a vaginal strep infection can be caused by taking antibiotics. I had the same suspicion. I had several cures of antibiotics last year. The British doctors love prescibing antibiotics, and since I have never really had it before, I wasn't aware of the consequences. I have had symptoms at least since July 2007.

What can I do? Should a Strep A infection be cured in the same way as normal BV? Or does anyone know whether I should get a certain kind of antibiotics to get rid of it? am afraid that it is a dangerous infection which will affect my reproductive health.
Doctors don't seem to know anything and I don't trust them anymore.

I am 31 years old, and have never been pregnant.

Good luck to you all!!

Hello all

Please help me! I am new here!

I have been diagnosed with Strep A vaginosis, which is apparently a quite rare condition. For a long time, different doctors thought that I had a yeast infection, but it finally became clear in December 2007 that it was strep A. I had a course of penicillin, but it came back just after the treatment stopped. I have since tried to cure myself, with hydrogen peroxide douches, coconut oil, something called Ladybalance (a lactose product), and more or less one week ago I started eating Stong lactobacillus pills twice a day (Udo's Choice). (I am a UK resident and we cannot get the Fem-Dophilus here.) My self treatment seems to alleviate the symptoms, but they are difficult to keep in check, esp. between my ovulation and my period. Symptoms are a rash on my vulva and perianal area and a thick, almost greasy discharge clinging to the vaginal walls. No smell. I am not sure whether the probiotics help.

Hi Guys!! I'm new here. Well I suffered the same fate as many of you. The following steps helped me tremendously and (touch wood) I haven't had this problem for years.

- Wear panties ONLY when there's no other option ( like your nose, your vagina likes to breathe) NEVER EVER sleep, wearing panties.
- Do NOT use soap in your pubic area - water was good for many years before soap and will remain good after soap. Do not use a washcloth or any other clothy thingy ( it will trap bacteria) - nothing wrong with using a bare hand.
- Stay away from condoms with spermicide - it may kill sperm, but is to yeast as chocolate is to cellulite. Use a condom though, since your boy's juices may be reacting with yours, then the ph goes all haywire and we begin allover once more...... Oh yes, avoid friction. In other words, lubricate well. Lubricate using only water based lubricants, or however gross this may seem, saliva is best (again the old ph thing)
- Eat lots of yogurt with live cultures - bacterial yeast do not like yogurt much.
- Trim the hairs down there - it acts as an anchor for bacteria, Hell go all out and do the Brazillian (take gas mask along for beautician, or better yet, make booking at a town at least an hour's drive away. You are least likely to bump in to the beautician again, using that route)
- Drink water, and I mean plenty!!!! At least 12 tall glasses per day - clean water, nothing added, nothing subtracted. Not only will it dilute all bad bacteria, it will also help with any skin condition. If you don't like water, sorry, but drink it none the less....
- Get interflora, or probi-flora, or flora by any other name at your pharmacy or health store. This neutralises ph and will lift symptoms tremendously. All doctors in South Africa prescribe this immediately along with any other medication related to BV.

- Last, but by far not least. If you are REALLY REALLY at your rope's end, fly out to South Africa. Our doctors are excellent in this field. You get an ultrasound with every check-up (we are prone to uterus problems); they take vaginal swabs every 6 months and do cultures on them; they call you back within 36 hours and ask which pharmacy they can fax your prescription to. They will even put you on anti depressants if your condition affects your mood too much. I'm telling you, apart from what CNN shows, South Africa is light years ahead in the medical field. I can speak from experience - I lived in New York for 7 years and came back home. Like a lot of you, I too struggled to find a doctor who would take time to listen to what I had to say. Best of luck to all of you, and I hope the small input helps at least some of you.

Just wanted to say thanks for making me laugh, especially that part about the gas mask for the beautician!! smile.gif I am glad to find that you have had success. Thanks for the advice too. I definitely need to drink more water and eat more yogurt!!

Hi everyone

I haven't posted here for awhile now, and haven't really been reading the posts either. I have just had a lot going on, and since I am not involved with anyone right now I kind of put my girl problems on the back burner. As sad as it is, sometimes I feel like I am doomed to have this for the rest of my life, so I try to get used to it and deal with it.

I've had this for just a few months short of 2 years now, and I want it gone for GOOD! I have not been to a gyno in about 1 year. I am going later this month for a regular check up and to let him in on the fact that my infection was NOT gone when he told me it was one year ago. I do not really like this doctor at all, but I am going to be moving in less than 2 months. I need to have my yearly exam and get my BC prescription refilled before I move. Have any of you had any bad doctor experiences? The man I see did his job I guess, I mean he did the exams and tests,...I wasn't crazy about him, but it bothered me that he would 'forget' about sending off test results, etc. Twice he ran a test that supposedly tested for basically everything, but he was hesitant because he said the insurance companies didn't like it because it was very expensive. Well that's just too bad! But I didn't say that because I am too quiet smile.gif. Anyway, once he sent the test off the second time, when I asked for the results a few weeks later, he didn't even remember! The girl had to go and call the lab and have them fax over the results. At one point where my BV was gone for like 2 days, I had an appointment, he literally looked at me for 5 seconds, said it was "all gone' and sent me on my way. I couldn't believe he didn't do any follow up testing or anything like that. Ugh, well that's my rant on him.

Anyway, several weeks ago I was having a very thick discharge, a lot of itching, and at times I thought it was cottage cheesy looking. So I sucked it up and treated myself for a yeast infection with the 3 day Monistat. It came with an anti-itch cream which was relief for whatever was causing the itching, and as much as I had hoped, it did nothing for whatever is going on down there. I can't even describe the smell. I GUESS it smells kind of fishy/rotting, but I don't know. I can often smell it through my clothes. It is so embarrassing.

When I go to the doctor this month I am going to use FemD throughout the whole course of treatment. I have done this once before (with oral Flagyl- which I absolutely REFUSE to take again) but I don't think I took the FemD for long enough. I just want this gone for good. I am so jealous of other women with normal vaginas!! I know it could be sooo much worse, but this is so frustrating.

So I just wanted to say hello again, I'll be reading the posts now for now on, I can't back track, it's just too overwhelming for me smile.gif. But I wish you all the best of luck and hope we can all get back to normal again!!

This is my first blog, and I would like to say HI! TO ALL. rolleyes.gif I had a strong fishy odor years ago when I had gotten an IUD. My husband and I both had to take, I believe it was flagyll, because initially I took the flagyll only and the problem kept arising. The doctor told me my husband had to take the flagyll at the same time I did, or the problem would continue because he would pass it back to me, and vice versa. The web site link I have included above talks about the diagnosis my doctor gave me,Trichomoniasis. I have been long since divorced but had my appendix removed while married. I still am not happy with the strong odor I get and am wondering if my appendix being removed has anything to do with it. I am concerned because as odd as it seems the smell is even fishier when I eat sea foods, which I love dearly. My delima, eat my sea foods and be alone, or think about getting re-married again by giving them up. I am presently celibate for over a decade but still am not comfortable with my vaginal odor, especially after eating sea food. Please only intelligent responses to this life altering problem. By the way my doctors currently always says everything is normal, even when pap smears are taken. rolleyes.gif Thank You!!!!!!

Trich is an STD, BV is not. However, the symptoms for the two are similar, and can be confused.

Since you had Trich in the past, even though you have been treated for it, I would suggest that you ask for a Trich-specific test from your GYN. Pap smears and wet preps are only about 60% accurate for diagnosing Trich, so you want to make sure.

Have you ever been diagnosed with BV by your GYN?

Anyway, ruling out Trich and other STD's is very important, and the first place to start. Once you figure out exactly why you're getting the odor, then you can figure out your next move.

Hey all, I put my blog back up. (link is in my sig) I was going to move it elsewhere, but the re-formatting is taking a looong time.

Some of the info. needs updating, and I'm still working on it. But since we have so many newbies around (hi ladies!) I thought it would still be useful as is.

THANK YOU LORI!!!! If you haven't checked out Lori's blog, please do so!!! LOTS AND LOTS OF GREAT INFORMATION!!!

Lori is good you all!! She knows her stuff!!!

TTO still workin for me... The last time I was here, I was feeling a little strange down there. Had to take some Penicillin for a tooth infection, so to be on the safe side, I used 1 TTO. Still no smell, and still going strong.

I also found out that the more I read these boards, the more I stress!! HAHAH, that's why you all don't see me very often. I still love you all, but have to force myself not to constantly be thinking about itty bitty fish heads crawling around my lower body!!!

Anyways, that's my short and sweet update!!

Hey, there! I've been taking the Femdophilus, but not religiously. I'm not sure I'm such a believer, at least not for me. I tried taking that with and after both Flagyl and Clindesse and it didn't keep the BV away, even with two a day. Oh well. If it weren't so expensive, I'd keep taking it, but I might just finish out this bottle and stick with buying the big tubs of yogurt and using TTO for maintenance. hi damselindistress!!

thanks for sharing....are you also taking femd while doing the tto?

sooo sad
