Right in the heart of Williamsburg on Bedford Ave, you can walk into SPACECRAFT and get down to business…crafty business that is!  SPACECRAFT offers weekly workshops and classes taught by local artists.  One of whom we here at BUST have a special kinship to, Buffi Jashanmal.  Buffi interned here for a while and has since started her own clothing line, Quiet Riot Dubai.  She is quite the renaissance lady- designer, stylist, TV presenter and self-proclaimed crafting-addict!  On the last three Saturdays in September Buffi will...
Good boob tube news:  Amanda Cohen, chef and owner of the East Village all-vegetarian standout Dirt Candy, will be competing this Sunday against Masaharu Morimoto himself in what may in fact be the first ever all-vegetarian contest in Iron Chef history.  You may remember Amanda's name from an earlier post on recognizing women in the professional kitchen.  And if you don't, that's totally cool because no one needs an excuse to watch the glory of Iron Chef unfold on a Sunday night.  The episode airs...

Who thought bouncy balls and black stockings could make an awesome piece of jewelry? Thanks to Erica Domesek of P.S. I made This I am now the proud owner of this little number. Within minutes of stepping out my front door, a girl passing on the street asks where I got it. It's quite the conversation starter, and a colorful change from my usual pearl necklace.       Be sure to check out psimadethis.com for more cool, crafty projects. I might just make something else when I get home!...

I used to really love Weezer back in the day, their first album is one of my all time favorites, but in the last, 5 or 6 years or so, I really could not get with the syrupy pop/anthem stuff, just wasn't working for me. But the new single, Memories, from their forthcoming album Hurley, out on September 14th (on Epitaph) is really fun and hearkens back to the old school Weezer we know and love. The song is all about the 90's, so us...

Remember when Kathryn Bigelow won an Oscar and for a minute, the whole world was talking about women directing films?  It’s not a bad issue to return to, considering that female voices are still notably, even shockingly, absent in our theaters.  At the end of 2009, Indiewire published a set of dismal statistics regarding women in film over this last decade (the 00’s)—in ten years, over 200 films hit the 100 million dollar mark.  Five of those films—or about two percent—were directed by women. ...

I keep hearing on the news that the reign of cupcakes in the fad-food hierarchy is finally coming to an end. And while I think that the idea of trendy food is kind of dumb, I couldn't help being intrigued by an article which predicts that "Popsicles" and frozen treats will the next big thing.  The "Popsicle" was invented on accident in 1905 when an eleven year old accidentally left water, powdered soda and a stick outside on a cold night. Since then, the food, and...

I cracked up when I saw this link to a spread in GQ where some of our favorite movie star dudes let it all hang out. Photographed by pal and BUST contributor, Danielle Levitt, we have Michael Cera, Jason Schwartzman, and Chris Evans lettin' it blow in the breeze in their photo shoot promoting the Scott Pilgrim movie. I'm not sure if the actual magazine has the bits blurred out or not, I guess I'm just gonna have to take a trip to my local newsstand...
