Oh, June weddings! Normally it would be good luck to have rain on your wedding day, but if you were wearing a gown made of toilet paper you might end up in your birthday suit.  AOL’s “StyleList” blog announced its contest winner for their Cheap Chic Weddings' 6th Annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress competition, and this dress by Galit Zeierman of Ramat Gan, Israel is for sure a winner. I’m not a fan of traditional wedding dresses, but this dress really combines my love of all...

I gave up sugar a few weeks ago, after realizing it was the basis of much of what I was eating. A hot chocolate (or 2) here, some chocolate sorbet there, the occasional poptart, pumpkin bread with chocolate chips,  chocolate hazelnut biscotti—yes, there was definite theme going on. The detox was brutal but now I'm finding I don't miss it. But, a few days ago, I fell back under its spell. I was browsing etsy.com and came across homemade chocolate marshmallows. The photo was riveting. While sitting...

Cupcakes are delicious. It is a proven scientific fact. I for one believe that cupcakes should be one of the major food groups.  Here at Bust, we received package containing a wonderful cupcake kit from Saint Cupcake, a bakery in Portland Oregon! Simply awesome. Saint Cupcake's frostings and cupcakes are handmade and super fresh with no synthetic flavorings! They have lots of different flavors and even have vegan friendly varieties. There are also toppings galore! We got in our package carrot, chocolate, vanilla toffee and vanilla chocolate chip...
Last Friday, Tracie Howarth, of Brooklyn Charm, generously invited the BUST staff to treat themselves at her new shop in Williamsburg. We had a blast!  Everyone managed to find some really cool pieces. Tracie and her staff are the best! They helped us take the various beads, charms, doodads, and whatsits that we picked out and make awesome jewelry.  Every customer that came in the door was so excited to be there, we couldn't help but have fun. One woman said, "I live right around the...

This charming, illustrated bladder was drawn by I Heart Guts, a company that creates whimsical cartoon organs with a mission of love for our bodies and their bits. It gets better- you can now wear your organs now as an accessory too. And who can deny the sarcastic jargon that comes with recognizing our bodies? Urine for a treat with this golden gem.  So next time you’re hating your bladder for that painful UTI which never seems to go away; let this cute...

We’ve all read about or watched a movie about the terrifying processed food industry and its effects on how we live. The blame has reasonably been put on the corporations that somehow manage to produce modified “food” in record time, but the death of the family meal has been blamed for the increased need of (or addiction to) fast food. And who is to blame for the death of the family meal? Women, or specifically second-wave feminists, according to Michael Pollan. Pollan’s recent piece in the...

BUST magazine would like to thank all the vendors and shoppers who came to the 2010 BUST Spring Craftacular yesterday. We hope you had as much fun as we did! The turnout included families, fashionistas, and even some furry friends. It was great to see such a wide variety of people gathered in one place to support our independently owned artisans. (I was especially excited to be able to get a plate of perogies and a gin/tonic at the same place.)   If you entered the raffle,...
