The BUST Spring Fling Craftacular is in the Village Voice this week! And it's complete with that super-sexy picture of our very own Callie Watts BUSTing a move at last year's gig. Here's what the Voice said: ''BUST magazine's DIY shopping and party extravaganza is going country this time with their Spring Fling Craftacular 2009. Please be advised that this isn't your average flea of local vendor booths. You're asked to come dressed in your best gardening outfit, even if that means straw hat,...

Joshua Katcher (above) or the Discerning Brute will be making an appearance and doing a demonstration at this weekend's BUST Spring Fling Craftacular . In association with the Farm Sanctuary , Katcher will be demonstrating how you can replace everyday food items with vegan ones, thereby helping the environment and helping yourself become healthy. Joshua will be doing 'Vegan Cooking 101', a lot of Q and A, specifically addressing each farm animal, and how to replace those foods in everyday cooking. It is not...

Check out this clip that includes two of my favorite things, rad hand made stuff and Mr. MO ROCCA! Mo had to learn how to make his own hoodie for this feature on Etsy and the handmade explosion so he went to the studio of the adorable Ruffeo Hearts lil Snotty proprietor Mackswell who showed him the ropes. Come meet Mackswell and Sarah at their booth next Sunday at the BUST Spring Fling Craftacular in Brooklyn May 17th, 12-7pm. To view all the vendors,...

BUST's Spring Fling Craftacular is just around the corner and we have some seriously awesome vendors lined up. Check out this shiz. Margaux Lange makes unique handcrafted jewelry out of Barbie doll parts. There are plastic chests molded into heart-shaped necklaces; eyes and lips and hands as earrings. They are absolutely fantastic. You can also keep up with her at her blog, Midge's Mind. She has an Etsy shop, but you should really come see her stuff in person at the Spring Fling Craftacular on...

New Yorkers, it's time to go hungry for the hungry. On May 6, skip lunch (or bring something from home) and donate your daily food moola to City Harvest , which helps feed hungry New Yorkers, especially children. It's part of the Skip Lunch Fight Hunger campaign. You can register to participate as a team or an individual. Teams will get a kit with paper lunch bags so that members can go out on the sixth to collect donations. Last year they raised about $500,000 and...

Tomorrow night Bags for the People will be holding a Sweatshop Social at Spacecraft Brooklyn . They'll be making reusable tote bags (or, as they say, ''totes cute totes''). All you have to bring is your hollow leg and some clean fabric; they'll supply sewing machines, scissors and lots o' home brewed beer (why does that sound like a dangerous combination?). The event is from 6:30 to 8:30 on Thursday, April 23 (OK, so that's technically after Earth Day, but whatevs). Spacecraft Brooklyn is at 355...

I felt like a superhero after I mastered increasing and decreasing, but teen twins Alex and Ana Miller are the real thing. Not only can they bust out a mean stockinette stitch, but these kids, the fictional son and daughter of a yarn shop owner, are saving the world in their free time in the new comic book Handknit Heroes. Creator Stephanie Bryant and her crew are dubbing Handknit Heroes 'the first graphic novel for knitters.' Each copy not only chronicles the badass antics of Alex...
