Last week, before the storm, I caught Regina Spektor at The Beacon Theatre. It seems so long ago, yet in my social media Sandy haze, it’s only now that I bring myself to write this review. While my area stayed out of harm’s way, somehow not being able to leave the apartment made it hard to do anything besides eat Oreos and watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I saw Spektor play relatively recently at United Palace Theatre, but hers is one ... Read More
My boyfriend and I recently took a leap of faith, quit our jobs, and took a much needed vacation from New York City across the border to Canada! We chose three cities and took our first train ride to Montreal. We spent most of our time there and then headed for a brief visit to Quebec City and Toronto.
We both invested in new cameras right before we left and were staying with seasoned photographer Mary Elam so we were all a bunch of photo-happy ... Read More
One of my favorite collections of the season has to be the adorably wearable Spring/Summer 2013 collection by Rachel Antonoff. Each season, her presentation is cuter than the last and this season doesn’t disappoint. Her garden party of fashion was a wonderland of preppy, school-yard looks with a hint of classic edge. The inspiration, 1977’s scientific film Powers of Ten, can be seen in the mesmerizing silk prints (which are actually aerial ... Read More
Jaclyn Bethany, 23, recently launched Audrey Grace this past week and it’s nothing short of a wondrous place for all the pretty things I wish filled my room. Like her shop in Mississippi and pop-up in NYC, the online shop is a unique mix of dreamy vintage pieces, gorgeous designer frocks, and adorable illustrations from around the world. I sat down with Bethany before her big launch and asked a her few questions about the shop and her ... Read More
I recently had the pleasure of attending Julie Mollo's 2012 Collection Launch Party and it couldn't have been more fun! Her collection consisted of flirty circle skirts that swish in all the right ways and sexy sports bras embellished to perfection. The skirts were made up of things such as music notes, pac-man, sea creatures, skylines, and, best of all, bubbles! With skirts like theses, balloons and doo-wop setting the mood, the atmosphere ... Recently, a few friends and I decided to create a short film. We wanted it to be colorful, fun, and sugary sweet. We filmed on a 1960's Super 8 and I made sure to include all of my favorite things such as cupcakes, picnics, polaroids, and macaroons. There's even a mini wardrobe montage and a twee pop tune by Afternoon Naps!
Initially the project was just for fun, but I'm excited to announce that this Thursday, our short film, 'fetti, will be featured as part ... Read More
At 17, I waited for hours on end to be front-row-center for my favorite new songstress Regina Spektor at Austin City Limits. The festival experience was grueling yet thrilling, and as the show came to end, all I could think was, “That was totally worth it.”
So at her recent show, as she started to sing, a wave of nostalgia came over me. The venue for this performance, the United Palace Theater, was quite grandiose and seemingly fit for an opera. ... Read More
Confession: I have a bit of a saddle shoe obsession. In my opinion, there's nothing not awesome about these old-school lace-ups. They're super comfy, stylish, and fun in that "sock hop" kind of way. They can elevate a casual look to classic and a dressy look to casual. Add some ruffled socks and we're totally in business.
Right now, some of the saddle-shoe related cuteness I'm digging is this easy D.I.Y. via Rookiemag.com. I can't wait to try ... Read More
The Hunger Games is officially a phenomenon. People of all ages and tastes are loving it and with such a twisted plot and kickass heroine, who can blame them? America is geeking out together and I'm loving every minute of it. Not only are the fans varied, but so is the film's fashion. From district to kooky capital, there is surprising inspiration to be had. Although most capital citizens are a silly, ignorant bunch, they do get to wear some of the ... Read More
Audrey Grace, a boutique based in Jackson, Mississippi, and Small Girls PR have come together to bring NYC some of the cutest designs around in an amzing pop-up shop featuring designers such as Erin Fetherston, Rachel Antonoff, Vivetta, It's Okay My Dear, Orla Kiely, Lauren Moffat, and many more! The opening night included delicious cake, adorable twee-pop, wonderful vintage, and an obscene amount of peter-pan-collar dresses. I don't think I ... Read More
