In my previous entry, I chronicled the look I put together for the 2011 Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. My outfit was just one of many and when I got to the event, there were so many fantastically dressed people that I didn't know which way to turn! I love how everyone was completely dressed to the nines. The men were dapper, the ladies were glamorous, and even a few adorable kids were dressed up. It made me glad that such an event even exists! Check out some of my favorite fabulous looks from this wonderfully jazzy event.. Read More
The Jazz-Age Lawn Party, a fabulous bi-annual, daytime jazz event on NYC's  Governors Island took place earlier in the summer and is currently taking place this weekend, August 20th and 21st. I was lucky enough to attend yesterday and I have to say the outfits were fantastic and the bow-tie clad boys made me swoon. For some reason, I've always been infatuated with redheads. I feel like they command attention, stand out from a crowd and somehow make anything look glamorous. They add a pop of color to even the most boring ensembles! Red hair seems to offer or elicit a special air of confidence and I love that it's sort of different from the norm, especially certain bright colors, but it doesn't feel too crazy. When I did a little research, I found out that almost all my favorite, fabulous redheads were not actually born that way. Of all the designers out there, Karl Lagerfeld is not exactly known for loving "the little people," but not only did he give us a collection for H&M in 2004, but lo and behold he's gone and created another well-priced line exclusively for Macy's now. “To me Macy’s is the perfect department store in the US where everybody can find what they’re looking for without ruining their budget," Lagerfeld said in a release, "That’s why I am happy to make this limited collection just for Macy’s. I heard that this collaboration was not happening through some random internet source that no one backed up a while back and I assumed was just a rumor, but now it is a rumor no more. Tavi Gevinson of Style Rookie and Jane Pratt of XoJane.com once talked of creating a Sassy-like website and magazine for teens headed by Miss Gevinson. When XoJane.com launched, readers were confused that Tavi was nearly no where to be found, but hype was still building for some kind of collaboration. Read More
BUST has covered these lovely ladies before and I've been in love with their hilarious songs for a while so I was suuuper excited when I heard, Garfunkel and Oats were in town! In a musical comedy scene filled with dudes, these ladies are making a name for themselves by being unabashedly girly, yet hilariously raunchy and daring. I mean how can you not instantly love songs like "Go Kart Racing (Accidentally Masturbating)" and "Pregnant Women Are Smug"? Plus these ladies rap like nobody's biznazz in "This Party Took A Turn For the Douche. Read More
I moved to New York City about a year ago and before I left, I was given my fair share of NYC guides. To be honest, they kind of overwhelm me. There is just a ridiculous amount of things to do and places to go here. Just choosing a restaurant, for instance, can be incredibly daunting. The options are endless and the descriptions generic so when I received the Zinester's Guide to NYC, I was pretty interested to see how it compared. Read More
Meet Erin. She runs Calivintage, one of my favorite fashion blogs out there. I go to Calivintage for pretty picture, vintage style inspiration and lovely street style shots from other websites. I previously posted her picture in "My Summer Wishlist" where I was coveting her lovely cat print dress. You can check this lovely lady out at Calivintage. Read More
So I just found out about this event, She's Got the Power: A Girl Group Extravaganza at Damrosch Park Bandshell, Lincoln Center and I'm kind of spazzing out because it sounds so amazing. It's a symposium AND concert featuring some of the most legendary, amazing girl, group singers of the 1960's. I saw Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes about two years ago and she was just phenomenal. She was so nostalgic and never missed a beat by singing all the hits. It kind of made my life when she singled me out to wave because I was dancing like a maniac. Read More
