Let’s say you’ve decided to take a mid-afternoon lie-down and have put your iTunes on shuffle because you’re too tired to make that perfectly relaxing playlist. You’re just about dozing off as the Fleet Foxes play, and then WABAM! Soulja Boy starts playing. Or, let’s say you and your friends are three sheets to the wind and you just know that a Motown sing-along is inevitable except oh no! You’re drunk and who has the time to mine YouTube for some golden oldies? Thanks to the website 8tracks, your problem is solved. On 8tracks, users create mixes that are only 8 songs long, and all mixes are available for free to site visitors. It’s a great way to discover new music and a quick fix for all your last minute music needs. Some mixes I stumbled upon include ones titled “Sunday Morning Indie Mix,” “The Devil Plays Banjo,” and the wonderfully titled “dubstep this shit is fuckn fuck.” Check it out at 8tracks.com.
