Thanks to a good friend who had a spare ticket, I was fortunate enough to spend last Friday evening at Webster Hall here in NYC with indie/art/prog/whatever you want to call them-rockers, Mew. Having no experience seeing the Danish band live, I was pretty excited to see what they had in store.
The evening opened with the Brooklyn-based band, Bear in Heaven. I try to stay open-minded when it comes to opening bands, especially when they are preceding highly known ... Read More

A few days ago, a 50-year-old Taiwanese man was arrested for tricking over 20 women into having sex with him. Huh? Using photos of a young male model, Hsu told the women that he was the son of a Taiwanese father and French mother, and was desperately looking to marry a Taiwanese woman. The catch: you have to sleep with my dad. Hsu, as Angor, told the ... Read More

Listen up all you ladies suffering from a low libido, the "Viagra for women" is here. Doctors testing a new anti-depressant drug, fibanserin, discovered that it didn't do much to brighten moods. President Obama has stated that women's rights are a great concern in his administration. "My own background is somebody who was taught by my mom that the single-greatest measure of how well a society does is how it treats its women. And so, we are going ... Read More
Last Friday, Ewan McGregor appeared on the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson to promote his newest film, "Men Who Stare at Goats". During the interview, Craig Ferguson mentioned how McGregor has done a lot of nude scenes in his films, to which McGregor responded:
"I don't find it embarrassing. I like to do it. Women are always expected to be naked in films, but I like to try and do it so they are not naked. It's a feminist thing that I do."

As a child of the 80's, it was common for my friends and I to debate on who was cooler: Jem and the Holograms or Barbie and the Rockers. While it becomes a close tie when faced with the glittery makeup and neon clothing, the sugary sweet pop-rock tunes, and the explosive hairstyles, I'm thinking Jem may have outdone Barbie on one important factor: her voice. Jem's character was made up of not one, but two rocking ladies. Samantha Newark provided her speaking voice, ... Read More
