Ladies, Don’t let these new ladies' underwear sets, licensed by Marvel, fool you, real super powers are all in your head. Although, the idea is a totally sweet one, I find the execution of these sets completely ridiculous and uncomfortably sexist. Airbrushed cleavage “bursting” at the seams and tiny infant sized waistlines are sending the wrong message to the self-conscious, comic-book-reading,14-year-old girl in all of us. Back for its 7th year, this fabulously inexpensive flea market caters to fashionable gals sizes 14+ and will be acting as a fundraiser for Nolose and The Femme Collective, two wonderful body positive organizations. The Fat Girl Flea Market takes place, Saturday, April 30th from 12pm-8pm at the NYC LGBT Community Center (208 West 13th Street, NYC on the 1st floor). Admission is $10.
Donations can be dropped off at the LGBT Community Center on Friday April 29th between 4pm and 9pm, or on Saturday April 30th (the day of the event) from 12pm-3pm, only. Read More
Coachella is a place where celebrities and concert go-ers alike blend together in a sea of festival style. While it’s still a bit chilly in N.Y.C., it warms my style spirit to see spring dresses, fancy sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats galore. These pictures are a breath of fresh air as spring officially begins and people are wearing more and more color! It’s only going to get warmer here, but I hear it was pretty warm at Coachella already. You gotta hand it to these stylish folks. Looking this put together in desert heat definitely takes some skill. When wandering the seemingly endless world of Tumblr and fashion blogs there tends to be a never ending ocean of pictures displaying stick-thin, model looking girls and and an overall lack of diversity in size. Curve Appeal (http://curveappeal.tumblr.com) is a blog, which argues, curves are beautiful too! Many of the pictures are self-submitted by readers, along with their measurements or are found images that have made their way on to the site. These women are proud of their curves and it shows.
