My nails were lookin’ mad depressed 'til Callie--BUST's Crafty Lady and nail-art enthusiast-- asked me if I wanted to test out these new NCLA nail wraps (for those not in the nail know, wraps are enamel stickers that can be applied to the nails). Egyptian symbols in pink designed by Melody Ehsani?  Gimme NOW.  The thing is, I am really lazy, and in true South Florida girl manner, I never do my own nails. I cannot perform the left handed acrobatics I have seen some girls on YouTube do to get perfect designs on both hands. I have always had a nail person. Read More
I've thrown tons of Fashion Week street style your way, but I thought I'd come out from behind the lens and show you some of the looks I put together from that week. I'm all about fun when it comes to fashion. From pillbox hats to kitty-cat shoes, I'm not afraid to look a little kooky now and then. I also took comfort into consideration, and wore flats amid a sea of high heels. With some pep in my step and bright tights to spare, I'd say many of my looks are downright ready for spring. I love sneakers! They make me think of summers spent running around in shorts, climbing down rocky shores to sunbathe by a lake.  They're no-nonsense in the way they help you get shit done, but it's awesome when sneakers can be fashionable too. Here at BUST, we're vibing pretty hard on these new sneaks from Gravis's collaboration with Brooklyn artist Dan Funderburgh. They have the same effortless L.A. style we've come to love from Gravis with an added femme flare.  Too cute! Let the countdown to summer begin. To check out the whole lookbook, click here. Read More
Welcome to Part Two of of my collection of looks from this season's New York Fashion Week. Fantastic street style seemed to be everywhere I turned, and I made sure to capture as much as I could. One of my favorite looks of the week (or ever) has to be this outfit on Vogue Japan's Anna Dello Russo, who never fails to bring the fashion crazy. I love it! With a bright fuschia coat and out-of-this world hat, she stood out in a sea of fashionable, yet safe, ensembles. Everyone is talking about last night's Academy Awards style today, and for good reason (Gwyneth Paltrow's cape! Rooney Mara's bangs! Angelina Jolie's leg! Meryl Streep's gold dress/Oscar-winning connection!). I always like to imagine what I'd wear if I could be on the red carpet at a major awards ceremony, and I think I may have found my dream dress on the Jeremy Scott Fall 2012 runway. If you haven't seen The Unicorn Dress That Launched A Thousand Squeals yet, behold: It's everything I love in one outfit: flowy sheer black fabric and a giant freaking unicorn. Read More
I showed you some of the stylish blogger ladies of fashion week, but now take a gander at part 1 of Lincoln Center's fashion show attendees making their way to and from shows oh-so-stylishly. The weather ranged from breezy one day to snowy the next, so I commend all sartorial efforts in the face of the New York Fashion Week chill. Here are some of my favorite looks from the first couple of days of street-style documenting. For more of my Fashion Week favorites, head over to Read More

Clip-On Earrings Love

BY Intern Maura in Style

So clip-on earrings aren't exactly "on-trend" as far as I know, but ever since my earlobe ripped (it's pretty gnarly and I'm strangely proud of it), I've had to acquire an appreciation for them-- which wasn't difficult! The thing about clip-on earrings is that many of them--especially vintage ones--are like little brooches for your ears. They're often much prettier and more intricate than regular earrings, they're unique, and they stand out more. At the same time, they're also more pull off-able than say, statement necklaces (looking at you, weird bib things). Read More

Friday Fun or Fug

BY Intern Caroline in Style

It's a funny time of year. We're on the cusp of spring and way sick of sluggin' around in our winter layers. Fashion Month is in full swing, acting as a sort of rejuvenating dose of inspiration to fight the winter bleh's. Many trendsters take flights of fashion fancy in this transitional time, which can be both good and bad. Let's decide if these trends are fun or fug.  Embellished Tights Like I said, it's the time of year when winter seems interminable and we're all OVER IT already. Read More
I f*cking love Vivienne Westwood. The brilliant designer baits the press with gems like, "People have never looked so ugly as they do today regarding their dress." In addition to being the mother of punk, she's an outspoken activist to end global warming and consumption. So I was all types of glitter happy to see that Ecouterre, the eco-fashion website, compiled images of her  with some of her delightfully brilliant musings such as:  I never look at fashion magazines. I find them incredibly boring. To me, reading a fashion magazine is the last thing I need to do. Read More

Happy Jewelry

BY Intern Arielle in Style

Handmade jewelry is awesome. Colorful jewelry is awesome. Handmade colorful jewelry is way awesome. As someone who still wishes they could dress up like Rainbow Brite, you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled across Tierra on Spring street, a small store full of handmade jewelry in the most rich, vibrant colors these eyes have ever seen. The store, which looks more like a wooden hole in the wall, is one of the happiest places in the LES. Being inside Tierra is like entering a rainbow. Read More
